  1. Haven't found a definitive answer but all evidence leans toward no. It's a re-skinned Xewton Music Studio so I'm fearful it's just gonna be some mediocre GM instruments and some decent in-built samples. I think we'll have to wait for iPad 3 and it's inevitable 1GB of RAM before we really start to see what the public wants in an iOS DAW.

Now watch the iOS hatred pour in as usual 🙂

  2. Had Image Line coded this themselves I'd be all over it, their software is very good. No Universal Binary either, I wouldn't want to buy this twice given the price scale.

How bought a portable version of Sawer Image-Line? Now that I'd pay a premium price for.

  3. Yeah, give that this is a re-skin of an existing app, and that it doesn't bring anything new or particularly unique to the table, it seems pretty expensive. But I will say it looks like one of the cleanest and easiest to use apps like this. But that's not worth the price point.

  4. All these music apps coming to iPad are starting to become real mobile tools. Now, we are missing a fundamental Super Midifile format ? It would include standard sysex/sounds/effect parameters controls and "blocs/patterns" info) to be able to exchange properly between apps, and a fixed DAW for post prod. No need for a heavy AAF XML stuff.
A new homework from several vendors around a new extension of SMF1,2,xxx and GM+ would be a very good point. and 16 tracks are still reasonable for a mobile synth 🙂
    Anyone ??

  5. The more I think about it, the more wack i realize it is. I have Xewton and it's cool how much the guy tried to cram into it, but the sounds are awful and they never followed up on the promised user sample import. But all it was good for was making an exportable MIDI file on a bus.

Let's just start calling this new one FLewton.

  6. I like Beatmaker2 and NanoStudio quite a bit. I have used them in a while though, is Beatmaker2 still crashing all the time?

Good point though. Looking at those apps you wonder what the heck they were thinking with this.

  7. I like your idea, but you know Apple, if they can't own something exclusively they don't care about it. I suppose 3rd parties could band together and come up with something viable, but I doubt Apple would do much to assist in this theoretical formats iOS integration.

  8. While I'm exactly going to run out and buy an ipad for this, it looks pretty sweet, even if it is a re-skin as mentioned above. It seems pretty close to desktop fl studio workflow to me, minus the ability to record audio or use midi.

  9. Dude, the iPad version of Garage Band can already export to Logic Studio. Apple has their products covered, I don't see how apps from other vendors are their responsibility.

  10. Because the total user experience and functionality should be a priority to them, and it's their OS that all apps run under. Not to mention the fact that multiple 3rd party developers have had Apple's restrictions on the OS stand in the way of things they wanted implement. People who use music apps have accounted for a lot of revenue for Apple. Your mentality reminds me why I don't frequent Mac forums in spite of owning one. I don't understand this constant tendency people like yourself have to defend Apple's decisions that limit 3rd parties and ultimately end users. Uniform standards for a device benefit everyone.
    lol right back at you.

  11. Sorry I just don't see the excitement for an App that does far less than it's direct competitors, because it has a clean UI. If you're excited about GM sounds in a $20 app have fun. If the user sample import is implemented soon and they add some actual synths with decent DSP I'll happily pay $20 as I'm a big fan of the Desktop version.

  12. Indeed, this could not come from Apple, but rather from a joint process between some dynamic soft guys and the MMA. Once MMA endorse this, I'm quite confident that Apple won't block it, and it might also become one of their files formats.
Maybe we should pass this ide to some software vendors ? Anyone has contacts down here ?

  13. what the fuck are you guys smoking?
beatmaker 2 seemed nice, but has tons of problems, crashing, reloading instruments and giving save message all the time…
nanostudio has the worst presets that need constant adjusting and break the workflow, you could even go as far and say the interface is cluttered although having a synth engine is nice.
Now here comes flstudio, a polished workstation with an actually intuitive interface, a good selection of presets, albeit a limited effects engine, but an awesome sounding at that. Plus you can export the tracks and continue working on them later, giving it the perfect workflow enhancemen t that only garageband can match as far as I'm aware.
FLstudio mobile is a fantastic 1.0 product.
I have bought nearly every workstatio app for ios (ipod) and they all got me frustrated pretty quick, especially their first release!
It's very obvious that most of you haven't even bothered buying the app before spitting out shit about it on the internet.

  14. Say what you want about limitations, it's the setting and enforcing of standards by Apple that has allowed music apps to get as far as they have. Contrast with what is going on with the Android platform where the same hardware can have dramatically different performance depending on OS, carrier, etc, and you have a total mess for developers. It's like windows 95 all over again! But every single iPad owner can download something like FL Studio or Horizon and have the same quality experience. That's harder to achieve that you think.

  15. Continue your thumbs down, as I and others do the sensible thing and use more powerful and fully featured apps. Only on this site would people vote down a comment that says user samples in a Fruity Loops app should be expected from day one.

  16. Beatmaker2 has been updated, and if you don't like the presets in NanoStudio you can program a synth you know? Why would I need to buy this app when I already have it as Xewton Music Studio? Because it's re-skinned and has different presets, while still using the same engine as Xewton, This place gets more ridiculous by the day.
