You can manage your iPod library with the revolutionary Crate Manager. Make crates with the touch of your finger in the drag-n-drop interface, you have complete control over your mixes.

Featuring high quality DSP effects, you can add Delay and Reverb to your mixes to add that extra punch to your sets. Supporting mono split audio output, you can monitor pre-cueing with your headphones for live performances. Record your mixes and back them back in a sleek player. Recording a mix automatically creates playlists! Turn your iPad into the best mobile DJ Turntable Studio, with Mixr.

  1. All this time and so many missing pieces? No auto sync with the beats? What the hell? How about focus on effects and other features for upcoming and semi pro to pro DJ’s and not emphasize the ability to make crates? I mean seriously…….?

    1. Because it’s not for serious or pro DJs. Did you see this joke of a promotion video? There wasn’t a mix in it, just jugglin two decks and a couple effects. Another boring iDJ app.

  2. Do new school DJ’s even know how to Mix/ blend? True “Blending” is a dying art. Old School NY DJ’s like Ron G, GMV, DoggTime, Ike Luv, etc. Mastered This. A good Ear, Practice and knowledge of your records are key.
If you gotta rely on Beat Matching to Mix Music, You are not a DJ. I agree that these “DJ apps” should have all the Bells and Whistles because todays tech permits it, but its up to the user to manipulate, improvise new ways to do things and get around the limitations. As long as those sliders are acurate and the tables are steady, you should be able to get bizzy. Don’t judge by what somebody else does with it. It’s up to you to see the potential in it and create.
The TurnTable was not originally meant for cutting and scratching, but long ago Grand wiz stumbled upon this by hearing the sound a record made by him manually stopping it with his hand and Other DJ’s like Flash took it to the next level and Scratching was born..

Today we have multiple cueing, wave form view , fast mp3 search/switching etc. Get bizzy. IMO “apps” are no match for physical hardware but you can still get down with them.

  3. Hi, this is Noe Ruiz (DJ Ecken). I’m the designer of Mixr DJ and dude in the videos.

@Adam We’ll be pushing out frequent updates with UI improvements and new features. Our focus is on delivering the best mobile dj experience.

@Buddog20 This is no joke. Could you keep up with my hands? Lol. I preformed a LIVE 1.5 hour mix during our launch party to show how stable it really is. The full hour was me mixing back to back, (with no sync button) you can check it out on our ustream page or blog at http://mixrdj.com/blog

@Beat New School DJs you say? I have a musician background, I’ve been playing the keyboard and drum for over ten years. I can certainly mix, bend and beat match precisely with out a sync button. I agree it’s certainly up to the user to get “bizzy” but we also know the importance of automation. This is only 1.0 and we’re actually sending an update to apple today. We have a long roadmap planned out and we have lots of updates coming your way! Appreciate the comments boys-

Thanks for responding to the feedback on this post. It lets readers know that you’re not developing the app in a vacuum.

That said, readers are responding to your app announcement and promo video, which left a lot of people scratching their heads. If a bunch of electronic musicians don’t get your product, you probably need to update your promo materials.

I embedded your recent UStream, which may give people a better picture of how Mixr works.

  10. Sorry, but touchscreen DJ-apps will NEVER, NEVER be seen on real DJs desks! Why is that so? You might ask. Well, let me tell you that one of the most negative and killer argument against those kind of apps is that there is no physical response, it’s as simple as that. It’s way to easy to touch something you didn’t want to touch on a touchscreen especially when you are hyperactive behind the turntables/CD/controller like myself. Sitting in the studio I surely see how this can work, but in a real live situation there’s no way an interface like a touchscreen can compete with real physical objects. POINT! Now go and develop something usefull! Like an iEffects-processor for DJs like a Kaoss-Pad, now that would be usefull!!

  11. Coming from the perspective of a long time DJ and producer, I’ll be keen to try mixr the day I can pre-listen while still outputting a full stereo mix. This split mono business is real amateur hour – and I absolutely don’t mean that as a slam against Mixr, which seems to a really well-designed and great sounding app in the 2-deck set. I wish Apple would give us away to get two full stereo line outs from the dock connector, or at least headphones and dock line out as separate outputs.

Until then I’ll continue mixing on two iPads and a mixer with Traxpad – while the reverb and delay aren’t quite up to snuff, the Kaoss-pad-style EQ sweep and multitouch responsiveness make it just about even with Technics 1200s for me now.
