    1. honestly im discusted that u have daft punk so low hes atleast a top 5 dj. daft punk should b in deadmau5s spot if it werent for daft punk shows today would not be so lively with there whole set up. david guetta may have songs on the radio but in real terms armin and tiesto are wayyyyy better.

  1. and out of that list about 25% can actually mix and about 10% can DJ according to crowd response

the age of the superstar DJ is way behind us and this is a parody of the ‘Billy big tunes’ senario where they just tracklist the same ole shit to crowds that dont really care what they’re listening too

this chart is done so they know how much silly money one can charge over another

respect to some of the old school names but i bet they’re still spinning ths same sound that they were doing over a decade ago

  2. Skrillex suck balls! But not as much as mouseRat,whoops met deadmau5 oh but he sucks to. I have no respect for people who play other peoples music .

    1. ur obviously a fucking idiot even if it was its not the poin they are without a doubt one of the pioneers of edm

  3. In this day and age, dj’ing is about as important as a 7Up commercial. I dj’ed in the late 90’s and early 2000’s and coming from that era of dj’ing/mixing, its hard to listen to a “mix” today. You’d be hard pressed to find guys who understand and appreciate the music enough or can actually PROGRAM a great set list, in order to create a mix with enough emotional impact to warrant the desire to listen to it more than once. Most djs are so caught up with the latest dj mix apps and the 10 jillion features it comes with that they lose sight of what is most important.

I disagree with the ‘ dj’ing is about as important as a 7Up commercial’ part. A lot of dj’s mix for the pure love of it, and personally I spend countless hours searching for music to create my old sound. Needless to say its not crate digging anymore, but the amount of drivel and dross out there makes the mission so much harder. As to your other comments, AMEN bro!!!
Ive been mixing bedroom dj style since the late 90’s and most people have no idea what a real ‘set’ is. Not just 10 tracks lined in a row, but something constructed to create an emotional response.

      (shameless self- promotion included)

  4. In the comments of this article: Butthurt DJ’s who sucked, so now they just complain that nobody is a ‘real’ dj anymore. Have fun being a ‘real’ dj, nobody cares. DJ’ing aside from turntablists, is about picking good music that pleases the crowd, and I don’t really care how they do it, but most of the guys on this list are pretty good at it. Most of you are just judging them based on their albums, when you have never even seen them live.

  5. Wow, so many negative comments. Of the names I am familiar with above, I think they are great. The list has nothing to do with dj’ing in the past or commenting on the current state of dj’ing or anything like that. It’s just the list DJ Mag put together and yeah it’s probably popularity based.

  6. Nah, most can mix basically, some mime though and charge tens of thousands of pounds for doing so. Besides, anyone can mix these days with auto bpm detecting..I would definatly say that all of them on the list do not fall into the exceptional category. It’s about the person, not the music or mixing, it’s brand name Dj superstar business, and note that most of the djs are house or trance, hardly any dubstep or dnb djs get nominated..

    1. Sorry mate but no, mixing isnt about beat matching. Real djing is about creating an emotive sound, not just whacking 2 beats together and making sure they are in time….

  7. What a skill eh, PLAYING records… I mean, that takes so much more skill and dedication to learn than PRODUCING! (That was a sarcastic comment my American friends 😉

Where is the Top 100 producers list, musicians list, writers list?

    1. True, this is the reason people give me crap about listening to electronic music, cos they think thats what Guetta et al play… when in fact what they play and produce is mindless commercial music, a very different beast.

  8. WTF! Where is Netsky, MT Eden and more? Skrillex only 19?
    hmm.. a good top:
    1.Skrillex
    2.Netsky
    3.Deadmau5
    4.NERO
    5.Rusko
    6.MT Eden
    .
    .
    .
    6432. David Guetta

  9. David Guetta??? Noooo!!! I like some of his mix ,but Deadmau5 is better than this pop Dj! what about Tiesto, Armin,ATB,Skrillex,Paul Van, Above & Beyond Ferry Corsten, Or Sander!! Too bad! Hope this year , people will really put attention who they’re voting for!!

  10. LOL david ghuetta. Hope everyones still in enough shock this year to actually VOTE for the trance DJs and keep commercial puppets like david ghuetta away from thinkn their king of edm.

  11. btw avicii fucking sucks all his live sets sound the same 6 is obsurd to put him there afrojack is 10x better and he actually loves what he is doing

    1. OMG, are you fucking retarded.
Afrojack is the worst fucking producer and DJ in the world.
His music sucks, his sets suck, he clearly don’t deserve to be in this list.

  12. Swedish House Mafia is way more popular than 10th place. Skrillex is 19th? He has a video with over 90k views and another with almost 70k views on YouTube.

  13. Im glad to see John digweed go down on the DJ list it only shows were doing a good job keeping the underground underground keep listening to ur commercial bullshit

  14. david guetta should not be number 1 i just find that sad… obviously this poll isn’t a true reflection of the best DJ’s, as clearly the people voting for david guetta only listen to his annoying repetitive songs on the radio and don’t appreciate actual dj music like sets, mixes etc …. does david guetta even play live shows? or does he just do music videos with LMFAO n shit

  15. Cmon Armin Van Buren should be the 1st or 2nd like Tiësto David Guetts uses an comercial copy work(try to compare titanium by David Guetta to The Police – hevery breath you take) i know he is good but not so much comparing to THE GREATES DJ’s IN THE WORLD Tiësto, he never let me down he does magik with music he has his own style, he has a gift, he make the comercial in something new Ex.:Pair of Dice, it starts like all musics i listen on radio but the midle changes everything and i was being stupid thinkin he was getting normal…Armin Van Buren i never saw hem alive but he sure has great songs makes a spirit full of good vibes…David Guetta was only good on his 1st known songs and some news but he is getting comercial and that makes me sad =(.
    maybe in 2012 thise changes

  16. Howdy just wanted to give you a quick heads up. The words
in your article seem to be running off the screen in Internet explorer.
I’m not sure if this is a format issue or something to do with
browser compatibility but I thought I’d post to let you know.
The style and design look great though! Hope you get the issue resolved soon.
    Many thanks
