Misa Kitara Era MIDI Controller

At the 2012 NAMM Show, Misa Digital introduced the Kitara Era MIDI controller.

It follows the same basic design of the Misa Kitara tablet guitar synthesizer, but drops the synth engine.

Features:

  • 24-fret neck with tactile buttons, instead of strings;
  • Touch-sensitive rectangular pad that responds to three axis of movement (X/Y and velocity).
  • MIDI-out and USB MIDI
  • Internal rechargeable battery
  • 1024 x 1024 touch panel
  • Upgradeable firmware

The Misa Kitara Era is priced at $399. Availability is to be announced. See the Misa Digital site for details.

Note: The unofficial demo, above, is showing the original Kitara being used as a MIDI controller. No official demos for the Kitara Era are yet available.

  1. Hahahahaha! It’s like it’s designed to drive all the haters on synthtopia completely over the edge!!

    iPad-like device – check!
iPad-like device that isn’t even an iPad – check!
    Skrillex – check!
Synth controller that is suspiciously guitar-like – check!
Guitar-like instrument that isn’t even a real guitar – check!

    1. You’re right – it is sort of the ultimate Synthtopia troll-bait.

My guess this thing will never have 64-bit support!

And that screen? Probably made by military component suppliers!

  2. Yea I think it’s really funny how people are like, actually upset about this!

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA

It seems they come in 2 categories: category number one is people who are guitar purists who can’t/don’t want to handle change, and category 2 is people who don’t like the fact that this guitar-shaped midi controller is actually controlling midi and has a kaos pad.

Well, to group number one: who gives a crap, if you don’t want one, then go buy a Gibson and keep rocking out in your mom’s basement. To group number 2: okay, it’s like a Roland AX-Synth for people whose primary instrument is guitar! Same thing, if you don’t want one, then go mess around with your Fruity Loops and leave us real musicians to have fun haha!

My primary instrument is guitar. I can play piano really well but I just like to play the guitar way more- one reason is that it allows me to play things that are impossible to play on the piano. If you don’t think that’s true, then try playing a series of notes that are each more than a fourth apart over a six-note chord on a piano. It’s called four-finger tapping, and when done correctly, it sounds amazing.

Just to clarify, I’m not actually upset about the fact that you are upset about this midi controller synth-guitar with a kaos pad on it, I actually think it’s kind of funny. So just keep hating on it, please, the more viciously the better, because I think it’s funny that there are actually people out there who can’t just say- “oh hey that’s kinda cool, I’d never get one but whatever” and have to actually go out of their way to try and tell people who don’t give a crap about their opinions in the first place how much they think it sucks! HAHAHA keep going
