    1. We Apple users, being on OS 10.X for over 10 years now, are used to pay for point-release upgrade. Its how we like it.

  1. I started out with Cubasis as my first DAW, but over time, the constant flow of patches and upgrades drove me away. Who wants to install those when it wreaks havoc with the rest of your setup, often for yet another darned fee? My last straw event was updating Cubase and THEN having to reinstall the reverbs by hand, every time. It finally made the work environment feel hostile. Logic remains very stable and accomodating. More power and MONEY to companies like Apple and MOTU who do not make you jump through hoops.

        1. i used a pc for music for almost 10 years before i switched to mac. i’m never looking back. In my opinion and experience it’s been far too stable to create music on a mac than it was on a pc. i am indeed in love with my captures.

      1. I think it is the Windows users who have been jumping through hoops and experiencing sub-par user experience but have been stuck like that for so long they don’t know any different…

The truth is most Windows users are pirates and don’t think they can get as much “warez” for the Mac. Well, I say: get a job.

        1. “I think”

Just because you believe something “you think” doesn’t make it a reality. Your beliefs are based on opinions, not facts. Newsflash : mac users pirate just as much as windows users.
          Get a life dude.

          1. Really? Mac users pirate? I don’t. Never have, never will. Why? Could be because I am a computer programmer.

You don’t get anywhere in life by being dishonest and stealing off of people that work hard to create a fantastic software application.

      2. My my, looks like I hit some sort of nerve in simply describing a frustrating situation that finally drove me away from a company. Most of us have probably had that happen; some companies just don’t exhibit a great sense of customer service. It doesn’t mean their products are no good; it just means that they need to pay more attention to the end user.
I’ve rarely gotten into things like Mac/PC debates, for the same reason that I never feel called to ask someone why they play the guitar over the bassoon. Whatever strikes you best is what you were “meant” to use. It will never hurt you if you grow enough to drink in all views and shrug off what seems unproductive. Frankly, in something as abstract as music, I WANT to hear people’s opinions, even when they are cranky ones. Sometimes, they’re valid and can help you ask questions that will lead you to a better footing. Applying a variety of components to an end goal IS called, um, synthesis, right?

  2. I went ahead and dropped $50 on it. I must say, the granular synth is a lot of fun, so I’m a little less annoyed by the cost.

  3. Always been a pc man(but having just shot my first film, I will be buying a Mac for image reasons-keeping pc for music) and always been a Cubase man. The new comping in 6.5 is GREAT as is the Amp Rack revamp. Plug ins are never going to match 3rd party synths as Steinberg have a “catch up” mentality with that sort of thing(Retrologue sounds like Reaktor to me and Padshop has many equivalents on the market). However, £46 is a small price for this much new code.
