BeepStreet Impakton Physical Modeling Percussion Synth For iOS (Sneak Preview)

BeepStreet, maker of the iOS synth Sunrizer, has announced Impakton – a new app designed to turn any surface into a playable percussive instrument.

Here’s what they have to say about it:

You just slap your desk like a real drum, the transient acoustic signal is fed into the physical modeling engine and turned into the desired sound. That makes Impakton an extremely expressive instrument. Drop a coin on the desk, select any of the membramophones presets and you will hear the sound of the coin dancing on a membrane.

Here are audio previews for Impaktion:

Features:

  • Semi modular architecture
  • Physical modeling + frequency modulation + noise shaping synthesis.
  • Multimode filter
  • LFO and input velocity can modulate any parameter
  • 4×4 loop recorder
  • Recording quantization and metronome
  • Reverb, delay, chorus, flanger and phaser effects available on the send bus

The app requires headphones.
The app will be available for iPhone 4,4s and iPad 2,3 devices.

Estimated release date: July 2012

  1. While I would like to see an update to Sunrizer to address some quirks (e.g. keys being playable through the docked effects panel), this is kind of awesome. Glad to see they are still doing _something_.

  2. Lots of synthetic sounds and “udu-like” tones. I like the idea of using real mic impulses to trigger Physical Modeling sounds. I wonder if there will be ways to make more acoustic sounding tones– either metalic, wooden, or somewhat detuned membranophone sounds.

  3. The app name is IMPAKTON (without ‘i’). Yes it’s a Table Drum app. It will run on iPad1 as well (just made a few optimizations). stub: yes it can sound like tabla, udu, djembe there are many models built-in. You can connect membrane or plate to a drill if you want ;).

  4. That was superb! I was a little worried and disappointed, that we have not seen iPhone Sunrizeer updated, but now I’m happy again.

  5. Great paintings! This is the type of info that should be shared across the internet. Shame on the search engines for now not positioning this submit higher! Come on over and seek advice from my site . Thank you =)
