  1. Or just buy Rocksmith perhaps? Would it work? You get a cable that you can connect your guitar to the PC/Xbox 360/PS3 through USB. The advantage is of course you get to play your own guitar instead of a Squire and it’s a cheaper alternative. Though you’ll need a camera connection kit to hook it to the iPad.

  2. $50 iRig connector for the WIN!

This is obviously not a device targeted at the Pro musician… so I’ll settle for a little bit of noise and a smaller dent in my wallet thanks!

  3. If you look into Brian Moore they will install USB or midi pickups in your guitar. Which is a better option so you don’t have to play a squire. Also, i wish there was more talk about Keith mcmillen’s string port suite for guitar synth applications. It seems to be the only solution for guitar synth that has ever made sense and no one seems to talk about it,

  4. At least they kept it cheap, so it doesn’t matter that it actually devalues the guitar. Can you imagine a MIA Strat with a serial port from 20 years ago being worth anything now?

  5. Seems redundant. You would need an audio interface to get anything other than the built in 1/8 inch jack for audio output (including thru headphones), which would already give you a good plug for any guitar.

    1. Don’t you mean you would need an audio interface to use the ?” jack? The USB would provide an encoded signal suitable for transmission to a computerized electronic device. The electronics are obviously already inside. The unamplified ?” jack signal would be unsuitable for anything hand-held. Not that I’d buy one of these (I already have a Squier M80) but is this suitable only for Apple devices? The cable says Fender, and being USB it should be connectible to anything. Are drivers necessary and are they only going to be property of Apple?

  6. I like how the second guy starts strumming chords after having been asked “How’s that solo comin’ along?”. Kids have their own definition of guitar solo it seems these days!
