Live 8 Updated For Novation Launchkey, Axiom Air Mini 32

novation-launchkey-midi-controllerAbleton has updated Live 8 to version 8.4.1.

Here’s what’s new in Live 8:

  • Added user satisfaction survey. After several hours of usage, Live will ask you to rate the software.
  • Added control surface support for Novation Launchkey series.
  • Added control surface support for M-Audio Axiom Air Mini 32.

Bug fixes:

  • (64-bit Windows) Exporting video at 48 kHz would not work.
  • (64-bit Mac) The video window could go black after toggling full-screen mode on and off.
  • (64-bit Mac) The content in the video window would sometimes not resize correctly in the 64-bit Mac version after when jumping in the playback position.

  1. Satisfaction survey ? …after 3 years of ignoring users on their forum about crashes and feature requests …. C’mon Bitwig …I cant take any more of Ableton doublespeak .

    1. I see that as a good sign.

Ableton has been resting on its laurels for a few years, and Bitwig is going to make them work for their money. This should be good for us, whether we try Bitwig or not.

      1. I haven’t seen the survey, but I’ve got a good a guess about what Ableton wants to learn about Live 8 users: why haven’t they upgraded to 9? They might not come right out and ask that question, but that answer is worth the most money to the company.

    2. Hell yeah! I’d much rather have a useless survey that verifies I like the software I paid for and have been using for “several hours” than get NRPN support. /nonotreally

  2. Bitwig might as well be cold fusion the way people talk about it. It will fix everything… eventually!

I’m impressed to see Ableton keeping its legacy products updated so soon after the release of 9. I already upgraded, but I’m sure there are other users who will really appreciate this.

  3. Does anyone know what they mean by ‘support for Novation Launchkey?’ Does this mean you would be able to use your iPad like a Launchpad? There’s absolutely no details given anywhere I can find.
