Trent Reznor Announces New Nine Inch Nails Album

nine-inch-nails-twenty-thirteenTrent Reznor has announced that a new Nine Inch Nails album is complete:

“I’ve been less than honest about what I’ve really been up to lately,” says Reznor.

“For the last year I’ve been secretly working non-stop with Atticus Ross and Alan Moulder on a new, full-length Nine Inch Nails record, which I am happy to say is finished and frankly fucking great.”

“This is the real impetus and motivation behind the decision to assemble a new band and tour again,” adds Reznor. “My forays into film, HTDA and other projects really stimulated me creatively and I decided to focus that energy on taking Nine Inch Nails to a new place. Here we go!”

Based on Reznor and Ross recent work, expect to see some of the more creative use of synthesis in rock on the upcoming NIN release.

Title and release date are still to be announced, so expect Reznor to work the social media hype machine for all it’s worth.

  1. Well judging from some pictures he has posted, he has pulled out some of his old toys like the Oberheim Xpander. Not to mention now he has two people doing synths… I hate when people say this but i am sure hoping with something closer to TDS or at least in that kind of direction rather than the mostly rock band direction of the past few albums.

  2. I haven’t loved the more Rock oriented NIN. But the last tour with Allesandro Cortini on Synths was real nice and he his a synth head. Rumor is he worked with a small up and coming group named experimental electronic group GodSons.

    1. I love it when people put the word “period” at the end of a totally subjective statement thinking that somehow gives it more weight.

  3. He is mos def overrated.. His music is complete junk. He should have never started making music. He’s up there with skrillex and deadmau5.

  4. Hey Digital6, don’t be jealous because people actually know who he is and want to hear his music. For someone who writes, records, and produces his own music, I find it difficult to call his work overrated. Anyone who likes and appreciates his music does so because of its own merit. If you have created a project as sonically rich as The Fragile or The Downward Spiral, I’m sure we all would love to hear it.

    1. I do not make, write nor perform. I do however produce music and have done so successfully for over 20 years.

That said, I think his music speaks to the insecure adolescent mind many, the same pubescent, fragile minded, socially awkward crowd that simply cannot accept that perhaps they are the issue and not society at large. I find his music both sonically and substantively inferior.

      1. There’s art and there’s craft. I may dislike Billy Joel’s art (if I have to listen to Scenes From An Italian Wedding one more time, my head will explode), but I have a good deal respect for his craftsmanship as a songwriter and performer – he does what he does very well, even if it’s not up my alley aesthetics-wise. Thus I find it odd that you, a self-styled ‘successful’ producer (care to back that up, anyone? Anyone? Bueller?), choose to judge NIN solely on the basis of art and say nothing about the craft.

  5. Agreed with the comments about not liking the more rock-oriented stuff. My personal taste will always be Broken through The Fragile. After that, he lost me.

And I have to say I’m nervous about the “new place” he’s taking it. Hopefully, the new place will be a little closer to the old place. Like the new Skinny Puppy.
