  1. Can it be programmed to sing an intelligible version of a filthy old British sea shanty? Its doing almost everything else already. Its a history of PPG-World in 3-D. This is one of those apps that momentarily brushes aside any debate over the iPad and makes you drool a little.

    1. A friend I often gig with told me a few time “the price of the iPad, the apps, the iodock, your keyboard, ect… You could/should have bought some real hardware: an electribe or something similar…”

So, I made a small song with nave and beatmaker. A fat bass line with nave great arpeggiator, ridiculous nave lead “saying” SYNTHESIZER and my name over and over, some claps, some filter sweeps… Nicely cheesy and catchy!

      ( alas I’m not Synthetizer Patel, http://www.boreme.com/posting.php?id=10597 )

Paste that in Garage Band to compress and send by email :

He’s beginning to figure out the deal with the ipad noise thinghy.

    1. No because Nave requires IOS6, and Apple will not release IOS6 for the ipad1, so the ipad1 will be stuck on IOS5 forever.

This means you WILL have to keep buying new computers every few years and lose everything you can’t update or convert. If a car did that, you’d drive it through the dealer’s front window. I remain highly skeptical at shiny new claims, because they all have those damned next-version fishhooks. I don’t mind the part of any user agreement where I swear not to re-sell or reverse-engineer the goods, but the part that says “We get to sodomize you on a whim with no prior notice” causes me to buy a lot less software. Its a company’s job to serve my PRACTICAL needs. Its not my job to cater to THEM. I find it hostile. I’d rather support sound designers by purchasing their sounds for instruments I already own. My decades-old workstation still works just fine, but in 10 years, if you buy every new model, you’ll be able to build a guest house out of your dead iPads. BAH.

So your decades old workstation keyboard lets you install the latest software and is still supported by its manufacturer?

Or are you saying it still does the things it did when you bought it?

It still performs almost like new. The last revision completed it; it didn’t need anything else enhanced. It uses floppies and has its limitations, but its always delivered the goods. I sounded a bit too whiny, I think. I use Logic and I’m impressed by a lot of the new goodies. Its just that I played piano and then synths for quite a while, with no sudden death of function. I’m locked into the idea that an instrument shouldn’t freeze up after I’ve invested a year or more in mastering it, demanding high rent to step up to the next generation. If iPads start holding up for 5 years +, I’ll take them more seriously. I just want a longer useful cycle. I still have to give Sunrizer the nod, though, ’cause those are useful improvements.
