iMPC For iPhone Review

Reader Eliot Fitzroy reviews the new iMPC for iPhone.

When we posted about the introduction of iMPC for iPhone, many reader readers commented that the iMPC doesn’t live up to their expectations. A lot of readers have used hardware MPCs and would like to see a mobile version that offers professional features and support for professional workflows.

Fitzroy has a much more positive take on the app, focusing on the apps merits, independent of hardware MPCs.

Check it out and let us know what you think! And if you’d like to see Akai do a ‘pro’ mobile MPC app, let us know what features are ‘must-haves’!

  1. Great tutorial!!! Much better than the manual that comes with this app.

I got this iMPC for iPhone on day way and am really loving it. The samples are sweet and the interface is really intuitive. I have read a couple of negative things about this about but IMHO they are not really justified.

I think people who have a $1000 + real MPC judge a $2.99 app way to harshly.

It needs audiobus support, but this is version 1. Let’s hope the developers are listening to the users.

  2. Ya ditto! Great app now I know how to use this ???? thanks for posting this tutorial. It helped very much. Greetings Synthtopia from cold and beautiful Sweden!

  4. I love the app. Gives me a chance to try something new.
Just a thought, I haven’t seen anyone ask. Does anyone think that therewill be a piece of hardware for the iphone version and if not has anyone tried it with the synthstation 25?
For a £3 app you cant go wrong, of course there are missing features but many classic samplers for example never had auto chop. I still dont see a need for it even now.
    Cheers.
