Visitors, New Film From Koyaanisqatsi Creators Godfrey Reggio, Philip Glass

Thirty years after releasing Koyaanisqatsi, director Godfrey Reggio, with the help of composer Philip Glass and filmmaker Jon Kane, is releasing a new film, Visitors. Like Koyaanisqatsi, the film combines visuals and music to create a ‘wordless portrait of modern life.

Here’s the official summary for Visitors:

Presented in Black and White digital 4K projection, Visitors reveals humanity’s trancelike relationship with technology, which, when commandeered by extreme emotional states, produces massive effects far beyond the human species. The film is visceral, offering the audience an experience beyond information about the moment in which we live. Comprised of only seventy-four shots, VISITORS takes viewers on a journey to the moon and back to confront them with themselves.

Glass’s scores for Koyaanisqatsi and other collaborations with Reggio make use of an extended orchestra, combining synthesizers and traditional instruments.

  1. I remember seeing Koyaanisqatsi at a midnight showing when it came out and it blew my mind.

It was sort of humorous trying to tell people what it was about afterward!

Looking forward to seeing this when it comes out.

  2. For a world of people living in between a broken flame, broken pride is not to be underestimated, for it lies at the root of all evil.
