Mellotronics M3000 Update Offers ‘Two Mellotrons For The Price Of One’

Omenie has released a new version of 50th Anniversary Edition Mellotronics M3000, now offering ‘two Mellotrons for the price of one’.

Using two MIDI keyboards from a powered USB hub, voices A/B/C continuous blend and voice D may be played independently and concurrently. A single iPad can now power 2 Mellotron players in the same band. Or you can do the Rick Wakeman thing.

Here’s what’s new inĀ 50th Anniversary Edition Mellotronics M3000:

  • Using two MIDI keyboards from a powered USB hub, voices A/B/C continuous blend and voice D may be played independently and concurrently.
  • Increased polyphony – A/B/C now supports 16 notes, D supports 12 notes (12 + 12 on iPad 1)
  • Application settings now expose
    • Keep alive / disable sleep
    • Touch pitch auto-center
    • Touch A/B/C detente
    • Hard pan – pushes A/B/C hard left, D hard right for increased mixing flexibility in a live rig or studio situation
    • Background audio control – enables Virtual MIDI without AudioBus
    • MIDI channel selection for voice A/B/C
    • MIDI channel selection for voice D
    • Volume via expression pedal
    • Bug fixes

      1. Yeah it feels like it is missing all the stuff you expect to find in a music app… Still sounds good, but is still quite expensive for an app

  1. If you only want a few of the main anthemic sounds, $11.99 is a great price. I wanted a lot more than that, so I dropped $149 on M-Tron Pro. Its well-appointed with various synth-type controls and a massive 3.5 gb library that includes custom sounds from numerous ‘tron players. The real thing is a beautiful monster of a maintenance nightmare, but playing one showed me why they’re not very common, ahem. How did anyone ever take those on the road, aieee!! This app would be too small for me, but M-Tron sits perfectly in the middle. Just FYI, because its worth knowing about.
