Steinberg Announces Cubase 7.5, Cubase Artist 7.5

cubase-7.5Steinberg has announced Cubase 7.5 and Cubase Artist 7.5, available from December 4, 2013.

The update to version 7.5 provides TrackVersions playlists for audio, MIDI and instrument tracks as well as chord, tempo and signature tracks, letting you create and toggle between different versions of a track’s events and lanes.

Track visibility management helps you to keep the Project window clutter free, with additional View Agents and sync mode with the MixConsole. Enhanced editing capabilities include automatic transient detection. Other new features that emphasize the focus on workflow optimization are the new re-record mode for instant record restart, load and save of Track Quick Control assignments, MIDI editing functionality in the Score Editor plus the redesigned VST Instrument Rack with new VST Quick Controls and in perfect sync with the instruments tracks.

Version 7.5 also features the Groove Agent SE 4 drum sampler, with intricate editing functionality, pattern playback and in fresh new look. Version 2 of HALion Sonic SE now includes the new Trip virtual analog arp synthesizer plus eight new effects. The EDM Toolbox with dozens of MIDI loops, laid out in 30 construction kits provides added value to many of the powerful instruments included in 7.5.
Also highlighted in this update are three new effects: LoopMash FX with tape-stops, stutters and others, the REVelation algorithmic reverb and the Magneto 2 tape saturator.

The remote recording software, VST Connect SE 2, is exclusively available in Cubase 7.5, now with MIDI recording capability.

  1. Is Steinberg the company who used to make a really great stable midi sequencer , about twenty years ago.
Now it takes ten times as long to write in a few midi notes to sequence hardware gear.

SELL US A BASIC MIDI SEQUENCER AGAIN PLEASE.
    NO AUDIO
    NO SOFT SYNTHS
    NO BAFFLING WEIRD WINDOWS OPENING.
    A CLEAR SIMPLE TOOL BAR.
    KEY EDIT UNDO FEATURE (AGAIN)
CLEAR AND SOLID MIDI CLOCK THAT CAN ACTUALLY SYNC MIDI DEVICES.

I would pay enough to know I could rely on a basic midi sequencer,

STEINBERG THERE ARE MORE HARDWARE SYNTHESIZERS AND HARDWARE DRUM MACHINES BEING MADE NOW THAN IN THE EIGHTIES <YOU CATERED FOR US ONCE ON THE ATARIs, and early Pc's.PLEASE SUPPORT YOUR MIDI ONLY USERS< WHO'S WORK FLOWS ARE SLOWER NOW THAN TWENTY YEARS AGO.

RESPECT TO STEINBERG, BUT PLEASE DON'T FORGET THOSE MIDI PEOPLE WHO'S MUSIC BUILT YOUR LEGACY.

    A MIDI ONLY SEQUENCER PLEASE.

      1. Get yourself an old version of Cubase… or even better a hardware sequencer or buy an old Atari.
I on the other hand can use modern tools quite easily and have no problem combining them with older instruments and studio gear.
Steinberg also sells a more simple DAW (I forgot its name though. You also have Garage Band for example which is included with every Mac.

    1. Yep, the whole new mixer, the track show/hide selection, group, track version (playlist), etc… it’s all based on Protools features. This is not completely bad actually (that’s the kind of features that are awesome in Protools).

  2. I love Cubase, but this is a super boring update. I like that they are slowly making the feature-set more tablet-friendly though, the visibility thing for example is definitely something important for tablet editing. Still though, this is definitely a baby steps kind of update. Will probably give it a pass.

  3. I hope printing out music score sheets will now be working again. it stopped working with the jump to 64bit. if it doesn’t work, then the score functionality is simply useless.

and who invents these names: “track visibility agents”

I have been using cubase since the atari ST but this is getting preposterous.

  4. Steingberg will rev Cubase’s version number adding in whatever features they have ready once every six months. I call it their product manager’s cash-n-grab release. This model for release has been very predictable from them. They release it, everyone complains about bugs on the forums, then they fix stuff for six months while coding new features in parallel and they eventually stabilize the release. Then, they push out a new release to start the process over again. I’m happy Ableton has caught this release bug or we would all have to pay $100 for dual screen support.
