The latest episode of the Art + Music + Technology podcast features author Mark Vail, right, who’s just published a new book, The Synthesizer.
Vail has written for Keyboard, Sound On Sound and Electronic Musician magazines and has written several previous books about keyboards, including Vintage Synthesizers & The Hammond Organ: Beauty In The B.

Mark’s an awesome guy. Met him at NAMM and got to see a sneak peek at his book and it was great.
Hands down biggest game-changer in the history of music technology was the Fairlight CMI.

Mark Vail’s work over the years helped me to become a better synthesist and a large portion of that has been his infectious enthusiasm. I bought a couple of his books for a friend’s son who got the synth bug and he found them very useful. If you are anywhere near new at this or just need to re-compile some of your old mental code, take him up as one of the better resources available.
