New Software Synth For iPad, Dazibao

Developer Herve Noury has introduced Dazibao – a polyphonic synthesizer programmed by a unique user interface.

Dazibao is a polyphonic synthesizer & sequencer that you program sounds and then arrange them.

Here’s what Noury has to say about Dazibo:

Dazibao is a polyphonic synthesizer programmed by an innovative interface : you create several tones, then you arrange them on several time lines. Dazibao will create automatically the corresponding wavetables and envelopes for filters, volume, pitch, vibrato, pan and so on. Add an organ tone, then a string tone, and Dazibao will produce the correct evolutive sound. Four modes help to create easily and quickly incredible sound evolutions this way.

Dazibao for iPad also includes an analog style drum box and bass line. Mix one of the seven types of noises with a sine oscillator, and you’ll create easily hundreds «TR like» or «Simmons like» sounds of percussions, including toms, snares drums, cymbals and bells. The bass synthesizer is an analog style one. The sequencer helps to create any kind of rhythms, from 2 to 64 steps, with any subdivision of the beat from 1/1 to 1/8.

At the end, in concert, you’ll load sessions. A session includes patches for the polyphonic synthesizer, and sequences. So, you’ll have immediately under your fingers several incredibles sounds added to drums and bass sequences to create a full and large sound when you play live.

Creating sequences which include variations of tones, or large pads with sounds traveling in the stereo space, or patches with a different sound evolution for each key has never been so easy : Dazibao offers many innovations in the user’s interface which will help you to create quickly and easily the most complex patches, or the most experimental drums patterns. You won’t miss matrix, sliders or jacks! You’ll just extend the capabilities of your musical imagination.

Dazibao for iPad is available now for US $7.99 in the App Store.

If you’ve used Dazibao, leave a comment and let us know what you think of it!

  1. Sounds pretty cool, and I like the non-skue… skeu… squemorph… uh, the interface that doesn’t try to look like an old analog synth.

  2. Hmm i pronounce it int a latin way, the sequencer , now many line can u sequence with this beauty? Is it a sort of gadget lil’ bro, without the sounds u’ve heard thousand of times like in korg machines? I think i’m gonna love this one!

  3. Yet another synth?

Yawn! Where’s a new daw at? Or a dedicated app to help with SERIOUS waveform editing?

Developers – PLEASE look at what iOS needs and stop repeating yourselves ad nauseum

Is it really a case of “let me make a synth for iOS as that will be useful” or is it a case of serious ideas being in shortage amongst the developer community?

We have plenty of drum machines and synths, but the serious daws can be counted on one hand. And the serious waveform editor apps, I can actually only think of one- Hokusai and that one is very awkward.

Come on devs- the real money will be with a daw:)

    1. There’s a nice waveform editor in Caustic. Supposed to be updated soon with time-stretch. Right now there’s an issue with exporting songs under iOS 8 but that fix is due any time. This doesn’t seem to affect the waveform editor though.

I have to agree about Hokusai. I tried to work with it…

      1. Nice waveform editor in Beatmaker 2, much better than the Caustic one and better than the one in Nanostudio also.

It seems we have so many apps that have strengths and weaknesses and the perfect music app has yet to be developed.

        But here’s hoping:)

      Preach Brother!

      PREACH!

    1. Likely no audio copy and paste either

Judging by the screenshots, it sure looks ugly anyway, so much so ill not watch the video

With animoog, sunrizer, nave and likely at least 20 other decent powerful synths, I do not think we need any more

So if it don’t have the trimmings, you’ve saved some money:)

  4. Have to agree with some comments above – No AudioBus, No MIDI and $8 bucks for that..?!
I have about 26 AudioBus enabled synths and not to mention additional 20 as FX or DAW.
Btw; it doesn’t sound crash hot either… 🙁
Oh well, yet another app $ wasted…
    Next..

  5. Looks like shit, sounds shit, I wouldn’t put that shit in my machine even if it was free..
What a waste of time devs it’s absolute crap
