On The Run (Cover)

Sunday Synth Jam: This video, via Bruno Ciaccafava, captures a live cover of Pink Floyd’s iconic psychedelic jam, On The Run, from Dark Side Of The Moon.

Synth parts are handled using Caustic on an Android tablet. 

Technical details:

Featuring Caustic 2.1 android app by SingleCellSoftware, running on Acer500 tablet connected to a 25 keys midi keyboard, during “Another Pink Experience”, a Pink Floyd Tribute in 2013.

      1. That would make it more like the original track? Sorry, I don’t have anything Apple newer than OS 9, and I prefer to use the ][gs. It’s just more fun, and has that gee willikers Ensoniq chip.

  1. Considering that a real VCS-3 cost north of $9,000 (likely in questionable operational condition), this is a decent representation of “On The Run” using a soft synth. Also, don’t forget that some of the original composition was synth-based, while the balance of it was made up of careful manipulation of tape loops by “Dark Side’s” producer, Alan Parsons. As I recall from seeing Floyd live several times in the 1970s, “On The Run” was the record version played on tape into the FOH, during which the band snuck off to enjoy a mini-intermission. 🙂

  2. really on a andriod tablet….. come the on what the hell is everyone doing live performances with god damn tablets and ipads??? Instead of spending 500+ on a tablet just buy yourself a synth for 500 bucks. Oh yeah and that transition from the instruments to the synth was in the wrong key ;D
