Universal Audio has released UAD Software v8.0 for UAD-2 DSP Accelerator hardware and Apollo audio interfaces.

Software v8.0 includes Apollo Expanded, allowing users of Thunderbolt-equipped Apollo Twin, Apollo DUO, Apollo QUAD, and Apollo 16 audio interfaces to combine up to four Apollos and six total UAD-2 devices — adding I/O and DSP as their studio grows.

Apollo Expanded also marks the introduction of Console 2.0 software, giving Thunderbolt-equipped Apollo users dynamic new workflow options with more than 25 new user-requested features.

Console 2.0 will also be coming to Apollo FireWire interfaces (Mac and Windows) in Fall 2015.

  1. “Add an Apollo Twin for desktop monitor control as well as additional DSP and connectivity”

hmmm.. dunno if I’d see it that way. I’d rather use a dedicated Monitor Controller with 2+ XLR Outs.

  2. They have so many plugins that do basically the same thing that every time another one comes out all I can think is “Alright, what else you got?”. Add to the fact they left Windows users high and dry with the Apollo interfaces. When you spend several thousand dollars over the years to support a company you believe in and they do you like that, thats some heartbreaking shit.

UAD is boring now. There are way more interesting options on the market these days to choose from without the fear of losing time, money and support from a company you invest in.

  3. You want a high end DSP card, get a high end PC with thunderbolt, Apple just happens to put a high end plug on all their computers, (almost) no one uses USB 3 for audio and you need all that bandwidth to do high end stuff. The real killer is the latency though, thunderbolt is the only interface that can get near perfect latency on so many channels, You want a no compromise card that’s not internal pci, you HAVE to use thunderbolt.

    1. I have a high end pc with Thunderbolt. Get on the UAD forum and find out how many Apollo interfaces work on pc and then come talk to me.
