Elektron Jam: Yaybahar Plus Elektrons

The latest in Elektron’s performance video series features the company’s Analog Rytm, Analog Keys, and Octatrack instruments, jamming with the acoustic Yaybahar instrument.

The Yayabhar is made from natural materials – wood, membrane, strings and coiled spring. The materials aren’t that unusual, but the shape and the way long springs are used to connect resonating bodies results in a wide variety of sound possibilities.

Elektron explains the setup for this video:

“The acoustic instrument Yaybahar was recorded using two separate mics. During the session, the Elektron setup was monitored with headphones for best possible audio recording of the Yaybahar. The Octatrack sends MIDI clock and program change messages to Analog Rytm and Analog Keys. It is also used as a mixer as Rytm and Keys outputs are fed into the Octatrack stereo inputs.”

The other Elektron “jam sessions” are on YouTube.

  1. Nice performance. It bothers me though, that the musicians — and the inventor of the yaybahar — aren’t credited.

  2. Needs more Yaybahar, less synthesizer. Really intrigued by the sound of the Yaybahar itself, then coupled with the springs for that essential spring reverb sound.

    1. maybe im wrong. but i dont think the video editors or the musicians here have much to do with programming overbridge development. not even Mr. Dataline HIMSELF.

      foolishness

    2. Overbridge is WAY overdue.
So Elektron has earned itself this kind of criticism.
Of course for the lot of people who do not actually own an A4 and/or Analog Rytm, the criticism maybe pointless or foolish, but for the few of us here that actually own the machines, we have all the right to ask Elektron members to focus on Overbridge

  3. Very good although it nearly crossed the cheese barrier at some point πŸ™‚ The Yaybahar sound very good too yet has a almost constant fantom bass tone which does change at some point. Well done nonetheless!
