This video, via SeamlessR, is a ‘first look’ overview of the new Future Audio Works Circle² synthesizer.

The key new features in Circle² include:

  • NEW SYNTHESIS TYPE: VPS – Based on research conducted between FAW and the audio research group at Maynooth University, Circle² brings you a new type of synthesis: Vector Phase Shaping.
  • FULLY RE-WRITTEN AUDIO ENGINE – Circle² comes with a fully re-written audio engine. Better tone with improved low end depth and increased high frequency clarity.
  • RETINA READY – Circle²’s interface is fully retina display ready.
  • DESIGN SOUNDS VISUALLY – Simply move the colour-coded circles around the interface to start creating your own unique sounds. Preview a connection by hovering a circle beneath a knob.
  • REDESIGNED INTERFACE, IMPROVED WORKFLOWS. –  improved workflow and user experience in Circle².

Circle² for Windows and Mac (VST/AU/AAX/standalone) is available for $129 USD/99 EUR. It’s a free upgrade for existing users.

  1. anybody else having problems with Circle 2 in Logic Pro X? i have consistent problems when i assign external control to Freq. and Rez. parameters…it leads to major crackeling and a sustained CPU spike shown on the meter in Logic. The filter parameters also are painfully slow and/or choppy when reflecting the external control modulations. then it is all downhill from there. I am using the most up-to-date of everything

    1. I’ve experienced some crackling (not CPU bound kind) when using it with Logic X. But can’t reproduce it consistently. So, I’m not sure under what conditions it happens.

      1. I’ve replicated the problem consistantly within Logic.
I fired up NI Maschine MK2 and the same thing happens when using AU version…tried the VST and nothing happens, that seems stable. Initiated an instance of Circle 1 AU within Maschine and that worked without a hitch.
So, to sum it up: the AU version of Circle 2 is consistantly quirky. I have been in contact with FAW and they said they will try to get a fix in the next update.

    2. I can’t speak to how it performs in Logic, I’ve been using it in Live on Mountain Lion and it’s been working fine for me.

  2. This guy is a pain im the arse to listen to.
Does he have a cold or something?

FAW gave him a copy to review and he rambles on about not knowing what some of the features are or do!
He should have at least studied the product before doing his review.

  3. The reviewer *sniff* shouldn’t have *sniff* even tried to *sniff* make this video.

No understanding *sniff* of the product….

Spent half the video *sniff* making mistakes,

…and the *sniff* other half sniffing.

First look? *sniff* Last look for me until a real review comes *sniff* out…

  4. if there are any parameter modulated by the modulation wheel, cpu spikes and there are crackles everywhere

    unusable inside logicpro X

I would love to FAW to have a forum so we can post bugs
