  1. Those are some nice sounding reverbs coming from a stompbox.

I think there is something unfortunate about the single purpose stomper when there is clearly plenty of DSP power under the hood. But I guess there’s a practical implication of having a simple UI, a single function and put it at the end of your signal path. And it sounds like Boss is getting their reverb act together.

I got a Zoom MS-100BT and it does reverbs quite well. It is not quite as nice as this Boss pedal for reverb, it is still quite good, and it does lots of other things well.

    1. you should try one of the zoom CDRs – I have the CDR and the G1on (which is pretty similar to the BT and the 50G but in a much cheaper case) and even though it seems like you wouldn’t need the CDR – it really does have a ton more reverb types and most go to 100% wet + it has stereo ins – As for this pedal – I am sucker for reverbs and delays, esp because I love stacking them (and esp when you combine with the FX Blender) so if I see it on sale or used I prolly won’t be able to stop myself from adding this one-

  2. Not bad really. I haven’t heard anything better than Strymon big sky “cloud” preset though, I wish it could be emulated in a cheaper box. I’ve tried to recreate it on my Roland VG99 but it’s not the same because I can’t modulate the length of the cloud puffs except manually with footpedal or wavy hand (IR beam sensor).

  3. I’ve been an RV-5 user for years. I think it sounds amazing on guitar (mod verb with the tone rolled back into a tube amp forever) but pretty bad on synth. The digital grit and noise is just rough. I don’t really mind it on guitar but it really doesn’t complement analog synths very well IMHO. That’s even routed through a mixer channel and EQed. Boss delays on the other hand work wonders with my synths. I’m very curious to try this one out. If it sounds great with synths, it saves me from the $ and desk space of Strymon or Eventide. If it doesn’t, maybe throw it in the chain next to the RV-5.

  4. I love Boss pedals, but this doesn’t sound very natural to me. I’d have to demo one at my local guitar shop, I suppose, to give it a fair crack of the whip. I have the Boss RV-3, a lovely, natural-sounding combination digital delay/reverb pedal that they oddly discontinued a few years ago. For me, it set the standard that this pedal would have to beat.

  5. I love this pedal. The traditional reverb tones are really good. And the modern sounds are amazing – you can really get some unusual yet useful sounds out of this box . Best 150€ I’ve spent in like, forever.
