How To Mic Anything (Recording Tips)

This series of Basic Recording Techniques videos, created by Audio Technica, looks at how to mic just about anything.

As you might expect, the demos in each video features AT mics. The mic techniques demonstrated, however, are relevant, regardless of the brand of mic you may have.

The series covers:

  • Woodwinds
  • Piano
  • Banjo
  • Mandolin
  • Dobro
  • Organ
  • Brass
  • Strings
  • Saxophones
  • Hand Percussion
  • Electric Guitar
  • Electric Bass
  • Gru Vocals
  • Voice-Over
  • Latin Percussion
  • Solo Vocals
  • Drum Kit

Not covered in the basic recording series is how to record a zombie. Just in case, we are including that below:

  1. What, you mean useful stuff, not a cloudy, dark teaser with LEDs flashing in the mist, and a tagline about “everything changes … December 2017”. Knock me down with a feather! Props to AudioTechnica.

  2. Way to go AT!

Cool video. I love AT mics… great sounding, professional, and perform above their price point. I own quite a few, and they get used more often than many other, more expensive mics.

I love it when a brand is direct, humble, and markets their products as tools and not hyped up fetish items.

  3. Wow. Real knowledge! This is priceless.
I know people going to pay a lot of money to learn this stuff on “private” audio schools 😉
    Thanks Audio – Technika.
