The Unexpected Beauty Of Everyday Sounds

This TED talk features Ethiopian-American singer-songwriter Meklit Hadero discussing how she gets inspiration from the soundscape of everyday sounds.

Along the way, she mixes in traditional Ethiopian stories, soundscape theory, the melody of language and a discussion of how composers take inspiration from natural sounds.

“The world is alive with musical expression,” notes Hadero. “We are already immersed.”

Hadero has released 5 albums as ‘Meklit’.

  1. Interesting subject, but man am I getting tired of this TED-style lecturing. These people are coached to death and all have the same exact cadence and structure to their talks. Its like they are lecture robots.
