Avid has has announced Pro Tools 12.3, which offers new workflow and editing enhancements, and a new EUCON control surface, Pro Tools | Dock.

Pro Tools | Dock is a new EUCON control surface that works with Avid’s iPad app, Pro Tools | Control.
The Dock is based on the touchscreen workflows on the Master Touch Module of the Pro Tools | S6. Both systems are based on the idea that mixers need the best of physical faders, knobs, and switches in conjunction with touchscreen technology for things like fast navigation, metering, and on-screen plug-in control – a true hybrid approach.
When the Dock is paired with Pro Tools | S3, you gain complimentary and enhanced functionality with the dedicated automation switches, transport controls, weighted aluminum jog wheel, color-coded Soft Key switches and more.
The Dock works standalone with an iPad and will be available in early 2016 at $1,199 retail – (iPad Air sold separately). The Dock also pairs with the S3 Pro Tools 12.3 is expected to be available in November.
Any sign of MIDI remote control yet or am I expected to pay out $1200 before I can move a slider in Pro-Tools. Track freeze and stem bounce as new features is a joke in 2015. Good features but they should have been there for the last decade. How about Pro-Tools develops something useful and slightly more modern like a decent convolution reverb with a library of useful impulses. A convo reverb would be more useful is Pro-Tools than in any other DAW but nope… no sign of one… Cubase, Live, Logic, Presonus, FL Studio, Reaper, Reason… all have convolution reverbs… but not Pro-Tools.
I think PT’s implementation of track freezing and batch fades is amazing and I hate Avid. I don’t know of any other daw that gives you that amount of control with that or the batch fades. You got to hand it to them: when they do get around to doing something (way to late) they go all in
Agree. They aren’t necessarily for beat makers or EDM producers but Protools is super solid and robust. The features they have added and the way they have done it can be used by anyone but they are commercial project oriented.
And yet, they still can’t get a simple Freeze Track in place, and they still have to keep this commit to a new track b.s…. Why should we use two tracks for an unfreeze track and a processed track… Why should we have to keep an inactive track when it could easily be underneath the process track (maybe even as a “take” (lane))… this “commit” is really archaic in comparison of what we can find on Reaper, Cubase, Logic Pro and so on.
As a former Protools user (now more and more on LPX), I just can’t find any reason to stay on Protools anymore. And all “new features” updates are just a joke!
Batch fade window has been around in samplitude for more than ten years, transparency of overlapping audio clips as well…..fades and bouncing in pro tools has been retarded for years, it’s good they finally fix it. Hopefully it’s free upgrade.
