Miss American Vampire – Gothic Theremin Music

With Miss American Vampire, Lundy explores the spooky side of the theremin, creating music she describes as ‘disturbing mood pieces, melodic theremin, and gothic horror.’

The album was recorded used Moog Etherwave Pro Theremin, Ableton Live 9, Logic, Native Instruments Absynth, Reaktor and Molekular.

  1. It seems the “spooky side” of the theremin is too frequently explored – there are footprints everywhere. When are we going to hear from a thereminist bold enough to explore the “butterflies and rainbows” side of the instrument? Instead of “Demon on your chest” – yuck! – what about “A Purring Kitten on your Chest”? Awwww. Or in place of “Solar Winds Reveal Ghosts” how about “Solar Winds Reveal Smiles, Sunshine, and Balloons”? 2 Cute.

  2. The Theremin is hellishly difficult to play. I’d say it is as hard to play one well, and in tune, as a violin. I call it Devil In A Box. All I have ever managed to do with one is to make creepy noises. Which is basically what I do with anything.

    The performance on this piece was very well done. Kudos to Ms. Lundy.
