iZotope Releases Free Delay & Vinyl Effects Plugins

iZotope_Vinyl_pluginiZotope has released two audio effects as free downloads.

The first, Vinyl, is an updated version of tehir free vinyl simulation plug-in. By emulating the characteristics of vintage records and record players, Vinyl is the ultimate lo-fi weapon for anyone looking to add the dirty, dusty feel of a different era to their sound.

The plug-in is now 64-bit compatible, on both Mac and PC, and supported formats now include AAX and VST3. See the iZotope site for details.

izotope-ddly-dynamic-delay-key-featuresiZotope has also released DDLY Dynamic Delay, a unique effects plug-in that delays the signal differently depending on the character of the sound, as a free download through March 10.

Key Features:

  • Two delays in one: DDLY analyzes your audio based on an adjustable threshold to determine what to send to the top delay and what to send to the bottom delay. Adjust the Intensity to affect how strongly the signal is split between the two—great for a punchy delay on the harder, transient crack of your drums and a shuffling delay on the main beat elements.
  • Customize your delay: Both delays have two modes to choose from: Analog or Grain. Analog produces warm lo-fi delays with smearing and nostalgic degradation. Grain produces melodic, symphonic, and futuristic sounds for truly new soundscapes.
  • Responsive interface: The interface of DDLY reacts to the material it’s applied to for unique real-time visual feedback.
  • Automatable: DDLY can be set up with automation in your audio host, to engage the dynamic delay on your mix when you want it to and back off when you need the raw material to shine.

    1. yeah I feel the same. first time I opened it I thought everything is disabled. My old Screen has bad contrast anyway and its hard to see. I can see the Idea behind it, being all vintage and such, but its execution is poor. apart from that great plugin, especially with those two different modes giving really nice results!

  1. They changed the copy protection on Vinyl. It used to be a simple serial number, now it’s online authorisation (challenge/response).
A bit over the top for a free plugin. I uninstalled it & won’t be buying any of their other plugins. It’s just not worth it.

    1. That’s weird. I just got this version and did NOT require a challenge/response authorization. I bought the plug (for zero dollars) and they sent a serial number. For me it was super easy.

None of my business, and you can boycott whatever you want, but I’d MUCH rather have an authorization scheme with a challenge/response than have to use an iLock dongle, or some other authorization processes.

If I can authorize only once when I change computers, that’s fine.

I’ve been thinking about they Rx 5 audio editor. It looks very cool, but even the non-pro version ain’t cheap.

  2. Got Vinyl without hassle the other day. For some reason, trying to get DDelay means jumping through a lot of hoops on the iZotope site.
    Oh well.
