Korg VC-10 Vocoder Hands-On Demo

In his latest Gear Of The Week video, Tom Holkenborg (Junkie XL) demos a vintage Korg VC-10 Vocoder and shares his thoughts on it.

The VC-10 Vocoder has limited synthesis capabilities, but what it does, it does well. It offers full polyphony and an ensemble effect.

If you’ve used the Korg VC-10 Vocoder, leave a comment and let us know what you think of it!

  1. I had one and loved it. The Korg ecosystem was the MS-20 semi-modular synth, MS-50 expander module and this. I read at the time that it was used to create the Cylon voices for “Battlestar Galactica.”

    1. The voices of the Cylon Centurions for the original-series production of ‘Battlestar Galactica’ were certainly NOT done with the Korg VC-10 Vocoder…BUT with the WAY MUCH BETTER, EMS Vocoder 2000.

  2. Good to see that Tom has a good taste between vintage gear and vintage furniture . . . but please Korg! make a volca version perhaps a vo(l)coder , , , , i would love to have it in my tiny lo-fi synth set.
