Bastl Introduces Klik Audio Click To Modular Clock Converter

At the 2017 NAMM ShowBastl Instruments introduced the KLIK, a synchronization device that is designed to let you make rock-solid analog sync signals from your computer and hardware synths.

The KLIK revives the old-school sync technique of using audio tracks for synchronization purposes. It lets you record your synths exactly on the grid into your DAW, while compensating for the latency of your sound card. It lets you jam between your computer and your hardware, in tight sync.

The new version of Bitwig Studio (2.0) adds a HW CLOCK device that is designed to transmit clock/trigger info. Its output is either low or high 0 or 5V.

Here’s the official video intro:

Pricing and Availability

The KLIK is available for preorder at Noise.kitchen, priced at 49 Euro (plus tax). First units are expected to start shipping in March 2017.

  1. Korg SQ-1 already gives you this functionality.

With the SQ-1 you can send 2 channels of CV/Gate out from your DAW as an external midi device. It’s very convenient.

  2. Syncing onto vinyl? <3 In fact the video does not show a tight sync inside the Ableton recording and this is the range of offset i´m struggling with! But looks interesting, gate/click/clock quantized and thresholded wavefollowing in a matchbox 🙂

    1. I’m interested in this product but don’t fully get it. Why do you say that they don’t have a tight sync when recording?
