ContinuuCon 2017 Coming To Asheville, NC June 8-10

ContinuuCon 2017 – an international event that focuses on the Haken Audio Continuum Fingerboard and its unique expressive capabilities – is scheduled for June 8-10 in Asheville, NC.

The event will be held at the University of North Carolina at Asheville, beginning on June 8 and will feature workshops, lectures, performances, and demonstrations.

Headlining the conference will be University of Illinois professor Lippold Haken, who designed the Continuum, and composer Edmund Eagan, who co-developed the Continuum’s internal sound engine with Dr. Haken.

Here’s a summary of what you can expect at this year’s ContinuuCon:

Thursday evening, there will Reception with snacks and drinks in the lobby of Lipinsky Hall at UNC Asheville. Mark Smart will provide music with his one-man jazz band act, which integrates his Continuum.

Friday and Saturday during the day, there will be talks and workshops that will feature Dr. Haken talking about the history and development of the Continuum, and Edmund Eagan going into depth on EaganMatrix programming and the new features in the latest release.

Russell Hoffman will debut his Eurorack CV interface for Continuum. There will also be presentations by Christophe Duquesne on his development work as well as Jesse Chappell (developer of iOS apps such as ThumbJam).

Friday evening there will be a catered dinner at the home of organizer Sally Sparks.

Saturday evening will feature a ContinuuConcert in Lipinsky Hall, featuring solo and ensemble Continuum players, including Rob Schwimmer (currently at Moogfest playing in Gotye’s Ondioline ensemble), Ed Eagan, Dr. Wayne Kirby, Sally Sparks and Benedikt Slotte from Finland.
