I Speak Machine – ‘Shame’

I Speak Machine have released the first music video, Shame, from their upcoming album, Zombies 1985, which the band describes as a “sinister, synth-centric love letter” to 1980’s horror.

I Speak Machine are vocalist and synthesist Tara Busch and filmmaker Maf Lewis. Together they make soundtracks and horror/sci-fi films, creating a “live score film,” where the film is screened only with the music performed live by Tara.

I Speak Machine teamed up with former collaborator, Benge (from Wrangler/John Foxx & The Maths), to work on Zombies 1985.

The movie was written and directed by Lewis, starred Gary Numan’s the three daughters as zombies, and was screened with the live score performed by Tara Busch during a 21-date tour with Numan.

The record was also mixed at Benge’s Memetune studios using solely 1985-era mixers, effects and processing.

I Speak Machine’s upcoming Zombies 1985 album will be released in early September, and can be pre-ordered from Lex Records. For more information on upcoming projects and performances, check out the I Speak Machine website or their Facebook page.

  1. Hey the article is super confusing, could you guys rewrite it a bit. The main issue is that it mixes up this video with some separate film project. The video isn’t horror, doesn’t show any zombies, and Gary Numan’s three daughters are not in the film.

But my ARP 1601 sequencer was in it, which is super cool. First time I’ve seen it in a video. And now I know why I haven’t been able to find it in the garage. Can these guys return it now that they are done?

Sorry you got confused. It seems like you figured things out, though.

They say that possession is 9/10’s of the law. Fortunately, what they say is not always true.

      1. That is true. My therapist says she suspects I am not in complete possession of all my facilities. I keep telling her I don’t own any facilities. We rent venues like most people. If we could afford to buy all the facilities we’d probably not have to be touring.

  2. Shame is that they copied Throbbing Gristle…one thing is have an influence and other is just plagiarize….shame…shame…shame
