Arturia V Collection 6 Adds Buchla Music Easel, DX7, Fairlight & More

Arturia today introduced V Collection 6, a major update that adds four new instruments, including virtual versions of the Buchla Music Easel, DX7, Fairlight CMI & Clavinet.

Other updates include Piano V2, which has three new models, a built-in compressor and more; Analog Lab 3, which has been updated for improved usability; and improved interfaces for Solina V, Vox Continental V and Wurli V.

Here’s an overview of what’s new in V Collection 6:

Arturia V Collection now includes 21 instruments, ranging from historic pianos to digital synths, organs to analogs.

BUCHLA EASEL V recreates Don Buchla’s unique analog synth from 1973.

The Music Easel changed the way people created sounds with performance-focused parameters, putting the focus on the artistry of being a recording artist. Arturia says that Buchla Easel V is ideal for ‘exploring alternative sound design, creating ambient, widescreen textures, and unfamiliar sequences’.

Taking Buchla’s experimental vision one step further, Arturia has incorporated Gravity, a physics-based synth engine into their software recreation.

DX7 V is based on the Yamaha DX-7 but simplifies programming by improving the interface, and expands its synth capabilities with a mod matrix, customizable envelopes, extra waveforms, a 2nd LFO, effects, sequencer, arpeggiator, and more.

CLAVINET V recreates the sound of the Hohner Clavinet.

Released by Hohner in the mid-60s, its funky, energetic tone gave life to myriad genres over the decades. Arturia’s physically modelled recreation lets you dig deeper into the instrument, changing the physical properties of the instrument, and adding classic amp and effects combos into the mix.

CMI V recreates the Fairlight CMI. Arturia’s recreation builds on the features of the original by providing 10 multitimbral, polyphonic slots to design your sound, real-time waveform shaping, effects, a sequencer, and even a new “Spectral” synth that can scan and mix sections of audio, letting you create your own wavetable synth sounds.

Other updates:

  • ANALOG LAB 3: Features a new browser, new modes, and controller keyboard integration.
  • PIANO V 2: The 2nd version of Piano V features three extra piano models, including a Japanese Grand, a Plucked Grand, and a Tack Upright, enhanced mic positioning, an improved EQ, a new luscious stereo delay, and an in-built compressor help your piano parts sit in your mix.

V Collection 6 also includes Synclavier V, B-3 V, Stage-73 V, Farfisa V, Mini V, Matrix-12 V, Solina V, SEM V, Wurli V, Jup-8 V, ARP 2600 V, CS-80 V, Prophet V, VOX Continental V, and Modular V.

  1. I know its a cliche everyone complaining about the price of things but my “special price” for upgrading from V collection 5 (that after all adds 4 instruments) is…. 199€! Half the price of the complete package
Thats insane!!.. i honestly dont get the price model on this

    no thanks

  2. You’re not alone – €50 per new synth (2 of which interest me). I would have thought €99 would be amazing , but €199? Not sure.

  3. Im with you on the $199 upgrade pricing. I realize there’s a lot that goes into making these software synths and I guess at $50 per synth its not a horrible upgrade offer, but considering V5 came out with a ton more updates, I’m just going to wait for V7 to upgrade or wait until they drop some mid year discount. $99 is the magic number for me.

    1. $199 seems like an expected “regular” upgrade price, but the way they’re promoting it as a special, limited-time deal makes it seem high, especially if you bought V5 for $250 on one of the big sales earlier this year.

Agreed that if they ever have a $99 upgrade sale, though, that’s an insta-buy.

  4. how much for software lmao.
Is this so poor people can not buy into the world of music making ?
No wonder the world is full of boring dull music ,when only the semi-affluent
can afford to buy these software programs.
come on arturia ,this is software code not a matrixbrute ………
I could purchase a secondhand real synth for this price !
This is a virtual collection and the re-sale value is questionable .
If you buy this at this price ,Your helping to stop the poor and some of the best artist’s in the world from ever getting their foot in the door.
This is a crime against music……………………………………………………………………………..

    1. Hey Arturia, 199$ is way too much.

You have to lower the price to 99$, because that’s our budget !

Even better, you have to lower the price to zero ! For the price of zero I could steal a secondhand real synth for this price. And a car. And a gold ring with diamonds. So, really, you should be offering it for free and give us a car and a a gold ring with diamonds. Because we, the poor and best artists in the world, can not afford to make the best music for such a hefty price of 199$ that can only be afforded by the semi affluent.

And we don’t care if your engineers spent countless hours on this product. The price should be zero. Plus you should give us a car and a gold ring with diamonds.

      1. Their not engineers ,engineers can weld metal together and do all sorts of wonderful magic,,,you are referring to computer programmers .
and as some code is copy and pasted from earlier code ,all is not as it seems .
        but rather deceptive by nature.

        1. The hair splitting is strong with you. They are engineers, period.

If we follow your logic, why do you bother listening to music ? After all the new music is just notes copy and pasted from earlier music sheets.

Oh, and also next time you spend months and months to release the next masterpiece of music, do not forget to demand half the price for it, because you are basically a programmer making music on a computer, and your work is not worth much, basically nothing.

EDIT : the more I see your comments, the more I start to believe that you are a 13 years old troll.

          1. i am not 13 ,and that is a personal attack.
i have a opinion and i stated it ,you enjoy your virtual software at hardware prices,i ‘m saving for real hardware that may very well increase in price, unlike this piece of code ,you seem to think that using something like the juce framework is hard, for starters you can copy existing code for some processes ,so it’s more akin to sewing than engineering .

            1. Regarding “copy-pasting” code: I imagine you also feel that Curtis filter chips are cheating for a “real” engineer? Discrete all the way? Better yet make your own resistors, capacitors, and transistors. And thats great that your hardware holds value better than software, but I personally purchase synthesizers to make music/sound. As much as I love some of my analogs, there are still software synths that can be more versatile depending on the sound I want to create.

        2. YEEEOUCH
You’re clearly not a software developer are you?

Designing and maintaining software is an extremely technical engineering discipline, you should educate yourself a bit more.

          1. What should i educate myself on juce? or c++ ?
I can allready do this ,doesn’t matter anyway the 1st version is available in a hacked torrent with included hacked elicencer .
And yes for software it sounds quite good ,but that is all it will ever be and your investment will be worth £0

          2. Just dropping a line with regard to software engineering and Arturias €199 “discount” vs full price: great deal for new users, bum deal for long term users. Having bought 3, 4 and 5 and being a senior software engineer myself, yes, I know it can be expensive to hire and maintain the right talent. But for fucks sake, Arturia really have dropped the ball with the development cost claim. Its not 2001 any more. DSP and quantum mechanics do not share much in common in the world of desktop soft synths. And yes, bar the new synths, highly doubtful to be a rewrite, highly likely to be a refactor. Maybe I could stretch to €129, but thats about it. My middle fingers feel like lifting from the keyboard and pointing in the direction of Arturia HQ.

  5. Don’t get it if you can’t. Instead, just go get some logs and buckets to bang on. Record it on a mobile phone (because it seems even poor people have those). Hook up with other poor people and call it the “Hobo Manuevers in the Dark”. Attach some kinda social message to it and make sure you emphasize that it is a non-profit about a half a dozen times. Don’t forget to lay down a rap on top of the beatz. And include a hook or two.
    Break it down.
    Repeat.

  6. I am not sure the value of the 4 additional instruments. A DX7? Well, I have the NI FM8. A CMI? I am still having fun with the Synclavier in V5. A Clavinet? I am still enjoying the Farfisa and other keyboards released in V5. A Music Easel? Who cares.

    1. I was very excited to see this. 4 new soft synths at $50 each is good value. Cheaper, a lot cheaper than the real instruments. There is modelling here and not sampling. This allows a lot more bending of the sound.

Buchla. I care. They can still sell the decades old hardware version. It is a seminal synthesiser and one from the pioneering days. It has a different approach to sound design and this encourages different sounds. At its release, as groundbreaking as the others on this release.

I do agree there’s still a lot of mileage for me as well with last years new releases.

  7. The price is actually quite reasonable considering the quality. For those that do not want to pay as much, there are other options for making music. Stick within your own budget and use tools that fit them.

FWIW, if you don’t want all the instruments in the collection they are available individually.

  8. Im not saying that is or is not worth it, what i stated was that if you charge 399€ for 19 instruments (cheap or not), to me doesnt seem reasonable to charge 199€ for 4 to existing costumers… but thats ok, go for it if it fits you

We all know that there will be a sale in a few months (as always).. ill wait for that

  9. I gave Arturia a hard time over the cost of the upgrade from 4 to 5. So I didn’t buy it.

Now, the upgrade from 4 to 6 seems worth the price and I have upgraded. I think the implementations of the new additions are great. The Easel is weird fun, the Fairlight interesting but the DX7 seems to have bought a much-needed breath of new life to FM. There is plenty to keep me interested here for some time.

  10. Price for new users: $399 for 21 instruments. $19,- per instruments, seems fair.
Price for upgrade: $199 for 4 additional instruments. Doesn’t seem fair…

  11. I just wanted to plus one on the pricing issue. I supported this suite since version 1, and so with their update prices I’ve paid 3x their current full version. Fvcking ridiculous.
With this pricing, Arturia is rewarding ONLY new users while bvtchslapping their long time supporters.
