Sonicsmith Intros Modular A1 Semi-Modular Analog Synth

Sonicsmith has introduced the Modulor A1 semi-modular analog synthesizer.

The Modulor A1 features a VCO, LFO (each sync-able), two VCAs (one dedicated to the VCO and the other to the LFO), and numerous patching options.

Both VCO and LFO can be square or triangle waves and a switch sends LFO to modulate VCO frequency for some vibrato (at lower LFO rates) or FM (at LFO rates up to 200Hz) effects.

Features:

  • VCO, LFO and two VCAs
  • 9V standard pedal PSU
  • VCO with two outputs: a big jack +4 dBu post VCA and a minijack 9V out without VCA to control as clock or mix into Eurorack system.
  • Sync input on both the LFO and the VCO
  • LFO from 0.2 Hz up to 200Hz for FM synthesis
  • “LFO to VCO pitch in” switch\

  1. With adamantium connections or just overprized?
No sine waves no filter no MIDI …
revolutionary and so i’m advicing to „dreadbox“!
They give you more for less money!

    1. As far as I understand it their unique selling point is their own Audio Controlled Oscillator (ACO) chip which converts analog audio into analog synth waves while giving you CV representations of the input audio’s pitch, envelope, and gate and trigger. The tracking range of their ACO is 25Hz to above 6kHz.

They have lots of reading stuff at their site. For example here: http://sonicsmith.com/faq/ or here http://sonicsmith.com/audiocontrolledoscillator/

  2. I decided to pick this up since I can use it with a Behringer Crave, an Atari Punk
Console, and my Roland TB03. I could care less what it doesn’t have. Just have to use it to cross pollinate with other CV equipment.
