Electro-Harmonix 95000 Performance Loop Laboratory

Electro-Harmonix has introduced the 95000 Performance Loop Laboratory, the company’s most advanced looper to date.

It offers six mono tracks and one stereo mixdown track per loop. It will record up to 375 minutes and 100 loops with a 16GB Micro SD card.

The 95000 also features a robust I/O including two audio inputs, each capable of handling a microphone (phantom power is included), instrument or unbalanced line input so the unit can readily connect to all sound sources. Left / right outputs, a Monitor out and a Headphone Out are included.

Here’s Reggie Watts jamming with the EHX 95000:

The EHX 95000 has a street price of about US $550.

  1. Doesn’t the lack of inputs kind of cripple a machine like this?

Say I’m jamming with a friend. One of us would have to stop playing to record anything in.

    Maybe I’m missing something here.

The octatrack is being used as a looper for me, for now and I’m happy with it just seems like this device would be so much more useful with even just two more inputs

    1. “One of us would have to stop playing to recording anything in.”

You are describing an odd scenario. Most people I know don’t jam with two people connected to the same looper. Is that what you’re talking about? Also, most loopers don’t have more than two inputs. Most don’t have more than one. The Octatrack has looping capabilities, but that is not its primary function.

If I am understanding what you’re saying correctly, then both of you could plug into a mixer, then use an aux send to the looper. Then you could have 4, 8, 12, 32, etc. inputs (depending on how many channels your mixer has) going into any looper.

  2. I wish there was a way to get separate loop lengths going on the device. I can’t think of many workflows that would benefit from a seven-channel looper with one set length.

  3. If I was going to use this, other than the obligatory different lenght per loop thing, i would ask for a separate foot controller (only the footswitches) and control surface (the rest). This all in one approach only works for compact pedals with limited parameters.

  4. Looks like a great machine and great workflow but solid +1 to both of the ideas above. Especially loop lengths. With that many tracks, would also welcome a dedicated Aux send/return. Guess it could be faked with the pan knob but that’s comes at the expense of stereo.

Would make for a nice OS feature if you could choose to switch the Loop up/down buttons with Reverse and Oct or punch (or tap tempo or…). For the sort of ways I use a looper, I’d be way more likely to hit any of those buttons in a given session.

Guess I’ll keep using Loopy (which I also wish had an aux send per track!) and a controller.

  5. I don’t understand why have a 6 track mixer and stereo ins? Then i have to hook it up to ANOTHER mixer with 6 instruments. Just make a mixer with loopers on every in and a master tempo midi send. I swear I’d make a killing if i kickstarted that.

    1. Stereo line-ins seems perfect to me. Don’t you use a mixer anyway? Would you want six stereo line ins on the looper?

Let’s say you have your six ins. Then do you have a separate knob on each track for the loop’s volume and the input volume?

  6. You see a product and your like “thats awesome” then you come to synthtopia, where everyone treats every piece of music gear like the episode of the simpsons where homer built a car for “everyman” but really just for himself. Compared to every other pedal looper, this thing is awesome, and I consider the Boss RC-505 a pedal looper (semantics).
But, I’m with you guys on the variable lengths, but maybe just doubles to keep it simple. Why get nuts and go 2 bar loop, 3 bar loop. Just record a 2 bar loop with the option to go 1 bar to double it. If your doing anything more than that then just get loopy hd or get ableton. But they get a pass since they made this as a foot pedal. Unless your a gorilla and can hit the tiny “make this next loop 3 bars” button with your foot.
