New Boolean Logic Module For Eurorack Synthesizers, Deep Thought

Frequency Central has introduced Deep Thought – a new Boolean logic module for Eurorack modular synthesizers that features two distinct sections.

The upper section features addressable Boolean logic, with any one of NOT A, NOT B, AND, NAND, OR, NOR, XOR and XNOR being chosen either via knob or via CV input.

The lower section features simultaneous outputs of NOT A, NOT B, AND, NAND, OR, NOR, XOR and XNOR.

Pricing and Availability:

Deep Thought is available now in both assembled and DIY versions:

  • Deep Though module assembled: £125 GBP
  • Deep Though PCB set and PIC: £20 GBP
  • Deep Though panel (4HP): £15 GBP

      1. @Frodo: so, a programmable combination of 74-series logic. It is not a shame to use 74- ICs or PGA or PICs. The question is whether that is a deep thought or great advantage to modular synthesis, which I doubt.

        1. Logic modules are highly advantageous to modular synths, especially with clock signals.. One that combines many functions into one module saves space over multiple modules.

If you are complaining about using PIC chips, well that ship sailed years ago. Most LFOS and envelopes on Euro stuff are done in chips now, again to save space, but also because they are functionally identical.

If you are just being snarky about the name, then it is obviously a reference to Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. It was also the name of a computer program that teaches logic proofs.
