Arturia Modular V Sound Library Commemorates 50th Anniversary Of Switched-On Bach

Arturia has introduced a new Modular V sound library that commemorates the 50th anniversary of Wendy Carlos‘s pioneering modular synth album, Switched-On Bach.

The patches are created by sound designer Paul Schilling, who has created previous sound libraries for Arturia, inspired by Vangelis, Tangerine Dream, Kraftwerk and others.

Here’s what Arturia has to say about the sound library:

When it was released, “Switch-On Bach” propelled the blossoming world of synthesis into the public eye. It’s no exaggeration to say that without this debut Wendy Carlos release, music as we know it simply wouldn’t sound the same.

Thanks to sound designer Paul Schilling’s synth expertise, you can now use and perform these incredible sounds for yourself. Created only using the Modular V – just as the original album used Bob Moog’s legendary modular synth, Schilling has meticulously crafted the synth string, brass, and woodwind sounds which sound as fresh today as they did in 1968.

  1. This is amazing! It brings back memories from my childhood when I first heard this record. The demos here make it sound so vibrant and alive again. I wish there were MDI files out there that were transcriptions of Wendy’s versions. It would be such a great learning experience to go through recreating all of the tracks on that album.

  2. if you have Analogue Lab, can you see the patching used? or is it just a preset with the patching hidden? I’d almost buy the Moog Modular VST to see how these patches were achieved.

  3. A touch too heavy on the reverb, but other than that this is absolutely spot-on. Schilling’s Vangelis patches in the latest Arturia package are absolutely jaw-dropping as well. Dude knows his stuff!
