Nozoïd Intros Nozori Multifunction Eurorack Module

Nozoïd has launched a Kickstarter project to fund production of the Nozori, a multifunction Eurorack module.

The Nozori lets you choose from 80+ functions for the module, including VCO, LFO, clock, sequencer, audio effects and more. The module’s function is selected hardware jumpers.

Here’s what they have to say about the Nozori:

The nozori concept consist of using the same hardware for multiple modules. This hardware is based on a powerful digital core to allow huge versatility. Potentiometers, inputs or outputs can adapt to many module designs: from standard modules like VCO, VCF, LFO to outstanding functionality never seen before. This solve two problems of the eurorack world: the price and the size of a system.

You can unleash your experimentation process without spending much on new modules : one hardware allows more experimentations since you can try many different modules. You may have a module that you did not used anymore. With a nozori, this will never happen : when your rack evolves, you only need to change few jumpers to find the perfect module for the situation.

2 Nozori module options are available; one with 6 pots and 8 patch points; and one with 8 pots and 4 patch points.

Pricing and Availability

The Nozori is available to project backers starting at 219€. See the project site for details.

  1. The concept is brilliant. It’s too expensive (consider that the 4-module synth on the Kickstarter would cost nearly $1000) but for a first run this is forgivable. If it does well the price should fall quickly since there will be great economies of scale in manufacturing higher volumes of a single design. It seems like every Eurorack owner would benefit from having 1 or 2 modules this that could be reconfigured for different needs,

Especially like the expansion board that moves the pin header to the front panel.

  2. How is this better than a multipurpose module that just has a screen so you can select what it does, without unracking the module, like ornaments and crime?
