Korg Volca Drum Demo At NAMM 2019

At the 2019 NAMM Show, Korg introduced the volca drum digital percussion synthesizer.

We got a quick overview and demo from Korg product specialist Nick Kwas.

The volca drum features a six-part DSP synth engine that was designed with a completely different philosophy than conventional drum machines. Korg says that, as a result, it generates ‘a wide range of unexpectedly different sounds’.

Pricing and Availability

The volca drum will be available in early 2019, priced at US $149.99. See the Korg site for details.

  1. Nick isn’t always great at these demos. He makes it sound a little like a toy, when it has so much more to it.
I’m really liking how much Korg manages to cram into these newer Volcas. Makes my Volca Bass seem very limited in comparison. This one would be great for a mobile setup. I can see It being a hit with high schoolers.
I feel like I wouldn’t mind owning one, but knowing how little I use my other Volcas, it would be a waste.

  2. im really excited about this one just that white clap rolling around is worth the price of admission alone. Will add something different and unique sounding to the other more static Korg drum units
