Kilohearts Phase Plant “A Sound Designer’s Dream”

Kilohearts has released Phase Plant, a hybrid software synthesizer that they describe “as a sound designer’s dream come true”.

Here’s what they have to say about it:

Whether you just installed your first DAW, you’re looking for inspiration to follow up that award-winning single you produced last year, or you’ve been tasked with creating the sound of a hot broadsword slashing through ice for an online game, we have what you need.

Phase Plant gives you more options and flexibility than you can shake a stick at, to make things as big or small as you need without compromising the workflow. All in one box.

Features available include: ‘Analog’ oscillator; Wavetable oscillator; Sampler; advanced noise generation; phase modulation, linear and exponential FM, and ring modulation between Generators; application of multiple Generators in any order; LFOs, envelopes, and other modulation options; compatibility with snapin effects; 300 presets; advanced onboard Wavetable editor; grouping, minimizing, and more.

Pricing and Availability:

Phase Plant is available now for $169.00 USD/€169.00 EUR, bundled with Kilohearts Toolbox FREE featuring six snapin effects and the Snap Heap host plugin. See the Kilohearts site for details.

  1. what the heck was that?

comments about how great the sound design is while playing the worst cheesy music that has nothing to do with the video?

    C’mon man!

  2. So, it’s a Plug in where you have to buy plug ins plug ins to get pretty standard fx?
Basically you need to pay 350e to get a standard suite of fx, so you need to comparison it to high end synths like Falcon and Halion….you can get Avenger for half as much…

Needs to include all fx and be around 180 to be competitive.

  3. Heh, aw, let up on the poor littte synth. It doesn’t look half-bad spec-wise, the vaporous demo aside. If there’s any actual problem, its that there are several dozen that will do most or all of these same things. You can easily start duplicating your efforts and getting less done. Pick a main environment or two and then hunker down. Once I did that and just sprinkled a few specialty instruments over it as needed, the Fun started picking up speed.

  4. While watching this I thought, “yup I’d pay $50 bucks for this.” Then I scrolled down and saw it on sale for $170, Wich is just ridiculous to me, this looks like UVI Falcon lite.

    1. Yes- UVI Falcon has far more for less… 15 oscillator types and ’80’ superb fx ‘plug ins’ (including algorithmic and convolution reverbs) and is also unlimited and modular with scripting and far more modulation types…it costs the same (assuming you want fx pack with Phase Plant ) but you also get a 100€ voucher for UVI sounds and preset packs….

  5. ‘A sound designers dream’ assuming you dream of designing sounds with just a couple of fx and without a reverb!

The actual cost is 350E assuming you want the type of fx that come with most synths as standard….

Plug in’s in Plug ins….the ultimate rabbit hole to vanish down!

  6. I’m not a fan of the DLC pricing model either but this synth sounds awesome and really has a great interface.

It’s super visual with awesome modulation and routing. Also the built in presets are really useful. There’s ones from the likes of Rob Swire and lots of init presets with examples of FM, etc. It’s a really nice package. Better than Massive X in my opinion.
