Free Max For Live Devices Brings MIDI Velocity To Korg Volca Drum

Pete Midi and AbletonDrummer have introduced Velo2VolcaD, a free Max4Live device that makes the Korg Volca Drum responsive to MIDI velocity.

Here’s what they have to say about it:

The KORG Volca Drum comes up with a powerful synthesis engine that can generate a wide spectrum of electronic percussion sounds. Unfortunately, this tasty drum synthesizer is not sensitive to MIDI velocity and therefore it is not possible to play the sounds dynamically from external pads or keys.

The device transforms incoming velocities into control changes which can modulate up to 6 selectable parameters with adjustable ranges for each drum part.

It’s available now as a free download (name your own price).

  1. Not to throw shade at Korg and their mini Arp Odyssey, but Behringer’s full-size Odyssey (with more features than both the decades old original version and the Korg version) is arguably better. It now appears on the Sweetwater site and is available for pre-order at $499.
