New ‘Two’ Oscillator For The Korg Minilogue XD

Developer Tim Shoebridge has introduced Two – a new oscillator for the Korg Minilogue XD that lets you create complex waveforms by combining and modulating two waveforms.

Here’s what he has to say about it:

TWO for Minilogue XD is a User Oscillator for uploading to a Korg Minilogue XD synthesiser. At its heart is an algorithm which allows the creation of new complex waveforms from two separate base wave shapes. There are sixteen possible waveform combinations in total.

The second of the two base wave shapes can be phase modulated using the Monilogue XD’s shape control, which itself can be controlled from the synth’s LFO, as well as by an envelope generator built into the User Oscillator This EG has various modes allowing it to be looped as well as have its rate controlled by the XD’s LFO.

Pricing and Availability

Two is available now for US $7.

    1. What I find of note is how this oscillator takes on a sub-oscillator tone when the 2nd waveform starts to diverge materially from the 1st waveform – which you would expect as now 2-waveforms is the period.

This oscillator, ANS3 and Synclavier Go! Really go together 🙂

  1. This is almost like the slab synth version of a mini-modular. There’s plenty of East Coast subtractive available, but also some West Coast-sounding results with these new oscillator modules. I smell a nice wavefolding aroma here and there. It goes beyond the obvious hard-wired controls. The XD has some MS-20 in its DNA.

    1. Completely agree, picked up an XD yesterday and my ears already picking up on some MS-20 vibes. Furthermore, it’s great to have an experimental oscillator in an analog polysynth and I can’t wait to see how far people can take it in the months to come!

  2. This thing is pretty cool. What’s nice is you can pair two of the modules together to give you 8 voice polyphony, but with the sequencer which the Prologues lack.
