Delta CEP A Synth Gets Radikal Free Update

Radikal Technologies Product Designer Jorg Schaaf’ let us know that he’s released a free firmware update for the DELTA CEP A, a paraphonic semi-modular synthesizer that can be used standalone or as part of a Eurorack modular system.

The DELTA CEP A is an all-in-one design, offering nine key synthesis ‘modules’ that can be used together as a capable synth voice or used independently.

Here’s what’s new in the latest update:

  • Radikal Technologies has expanded the DELTA CEP A’s already powerful FX section with a stereo reverb algorithm. It is now  possible to add stereo reverb to the existing tape, delay, or chorus effects. It is also perfectly possible to morph the new reverb parameters with the INTERPOLATOR section.
  • Users can also store snapshots of the synths’ settings in its internal memory and even play the snapshots sequentially, creating  sonic sequences. It’s also possible to create smooth transitions from one snapshot to another.
  • The LFO 1 section can now be assigned to different modulation targets, without having to use any patch cables. This allows for assigning the LFO (Low Frequency Oscillator) modulation to multiple targets simultaneously, with independent modulation depths for all targets.
  • The ADSR section’s envelope generator can also now be assigned to different modulation targets, without having to use any patch cables. This means that multiple targets can be simultaneously controlled with independent modulation depths.
  • The INTERPOLATOR section’s powerful morphing function also benefits from those new routing capabilities, since internal routings can be morphed.
  • The MOD input in the MIXER section now controls the volume and saturation of the SWARM OSC signal.
  • The SYNC input in the LFO 1 section now allows for synchronising the LFO to another LFO or the GATE signals.
  • The DELTA CEP A also now reacts to MIDI (Musical Instrument Digital Interface) program changes.
  • It is now possible to share presets directly between two DELTA CEP A paraphonic semi-modular synthesizers.

Schaaf has shared a playlist of the Delta CEP A in action:

Pricing and Availability

The DELTA CEP A is available for €899.00 EUR/$999.00 USD (Eurorack) and €1,198.00 EUR/$1,298.00 USD (desktop) — through Radikal Technologies’ global network of authorized dealers.

    1. It’s a small, independent manufacturer that can’t dump prices like corporate mass market producers with factories in China. I think the price is still reasonable for what you get. I played with the synth for half an hour and it sounded pretty amazing.

    2. You get what you pay for. This is a very nice piece of gear. Consider too what comparable modules would cost if you added them together.

Also – the options for effects in Euro are pretty slim. Something like the Z-DSP is around $500 itself.

This is also the only all-in-one Euro synth that lets you save patches, isn’t it?

      1. It is simply one of the best synths in the past years. It sounds BIG, let you go crazy on parameters without patching and let you save presets with 8 additional scenes per preset for morphing. Did i say parafonic? One of the better implementations compared to others. What more? A built in Midi to CV-Interface for just another Eurorack to plug on and stereo multimode-filters, which can be bipolar L/R-modulated. Beside true analog filters, it has also one of the best digital filters on earth! Not to compare to any virtual synth or Plugin. Like the Accelerator before, this is a real master synth!

    3. I always found paying and extra €300 for a case and PSU to be off putting, that’s nearly an extra 3rd on top of the euro-rack price for a blank box with a PSU. It actually made me bypass this otherwise excellent synth.
