Yamaha YC61 Stage Keyboard Hands-On Demo

At the 2020 NAMM Show, Yamaha has introduced the YC61 Stage Keyboard, a new organ-focused stage keyboard that offers great organ sounds and control.

We talked with Yamaha keyboard guru Blake Angelos, who always brings amazing chops to his demos. In the video, he digs deep into the details of the YC61’s organ sounds and features, its physically modeled rotary speaker effect and its stage keyboard options.

The YC61 covers a lot of keyboard territory – with grand pianos, electric pianos and synth sounds – but the features and physical controls are tailored to keyboard players that want a stage keyboard that really lets them show off their organ chops. If your style leans more towards piano and electric piano sounds, though, check out our video with Blake demoing Yamaha’s CP88 & CP73 stage pianos.

Pricing and Availability

The Yamaha YC61 Stage Keyboard (MSRP: $2,499) will ship to retailers in June 2020. For detailed information and product specifications, visit the Yamaha Synth website, or check out the latest episode of Yamaha Synth’s Behind the Synth podcast.

    1. I think it boosts their brand better to let other people clone it. I do wish they’d get back into doing sequencers though. There are still things I miss about the RM1x. it’d be great to see them take on Akai’s new generation MPCs with a more modern UI and better connectivity..

  1. I think that most people in this community don’t care about the actual organ here, but could be interested in this new technology behind called “Virtual Circuitry Modeling (VCM)” and see how far Yamaha will take it.

The expectation for the big “come back” is there…..

  2. Whilst this instrument itself does not interest me, as Andreas noted, I am interested in what Yamaha will do with the VCM technology they have developed.

And the retro/futuristic design is brilliantly executed. This is light years more attractive than what Clavia continues to regurgitate.

  3. The Japanese guys at Yamaha pioneered Physical Modelling synthesis with their VL1, then did superb Analog Modelling with their AN1x synth.

Yamaha, Roland, Korg – all Japanes origins.
    They are brilliant engineers!
