Suzanne Ciani On Modular Synthesis & The Buchla 200e

In this video, via Spitfire Audio,  composer and synthesist Suzanne Ciani gives an in-depth demonstration of how she composes using a Buchla 200e modular synthesizer.

Ciani discusses her inspirations, her approach to synthesis and how she uses her modular system. Her performance system is based around a large Buchla 200e modular synthesizer, a pair of Eventide H9 effects units that have been modified to work with her Buchla, and iPad tablets, used as synthesizers and controllers.

Ciani also talks about how she uses her tools to synthesize sounds and place them in quadraphonic space to meet her compositional goals.

  1. Very interesting approach to get all this interacting parameters really musical. It’s a real art to know how to work with an amount of voltage controllers in a certain and very well programming patching way for getting this high musical level in which all becomes really … beautufull and amazing in a very organic and choreographic space traveling moving way.

Suzanne Ciari is a really Top Sonic Music Artist.
