Korg Intros Limited-Edition Titanium Kronos

Korg has announced a limited-edition variant of its Kronos workstation, the Kronos Titanium.

It’s like a standard Kronos, but in Titanium.

Here’s what they have to say about it:

The “KRONOS Titanium” is a new special edition variant of Korg KRONOS, featuring a titanium color front panel with a brushed metal finish.

For the first time on a KRONOS, it uses natural maple material for its side panels with a light finish that accentuates the wood grain, and also features an additional Italian-made grand piano well-known for its clarity, setting it apart from German-made and Japanese-made pianos.  These are the leading quality piano sounds that you expect from the KRONOS, together with a new look unmistakably different even at a distance.

Korg notes that the specifications – other than the color of the chassis and side panels, and the Italian piano – are the same as the conventional KRONOS.

The KRONOS Titanium is available in two models: 61-key or 88-key. See the Korg site for details.

  1. so roland is making inroads with their new fantom line, i guess. korg is saying in a roundabout way that a kronos successor is coming, but not soon.

  2. I do love the idea of getting a Kronos, but I keep holding back because I think there’s a shiny new higher spec iteration round the corner, but it’s always just a different colour.

  3. I’m curious as to what Korg *could* do to improve on the Kronos. Hardware workstations will always exist, but not in their pre-laptop numbers. They’re a mature technology, stuffed to the roof with most of the traditional synth & acoustic tools anyone could rationally need. If you’re one of those brave souls who can make use of the new Fantom’s V-Piano, huge synth options & broad connectivity, you know who you are.

    1. the new fantom is basically an akai force with keys and better sounds imo. if i were korg i would make an electribe pro workstation w/ keys. same size as roland´s system 8. the internal sounds and patterns of the current electribe lineup are cutting-edge.

  4. I have two Kronese (Kronae??) which find their way into my gigs. They are great synths and in many ways are still far ahead of the latest offerings by Yamaha and Roland, though their instruments are impressive and sound great too. Not bad for a nine year old instrument!
