Title Music From A Clockwork Orange, On Modular Synthesizer

Sunday Synth Jam: Synthesist Scott Ampleford shared this video for his cover of the Title Music From A Clockwork Orange, the Wendy Carlos arrangement of Henry Purcell’s Music for the Funeral of Queen Mary.

The arrangement features the sounds of a Moog format modular synthesizer, multitracked like the original, and the Roland Juno-6.

“This is one of the most iconic electronic film themes of all time,” notes Ampleford. “Wendy Carlos’ work has always been a MASSIVE inspiration for me, such a shame it isn’t more well known and hasn’t been available for a long time.”

  1. Excellent, well done. Love the Juno 6.

I see you have A Clockwork Orange OST but if you don’t have already, WC’s Complete Original Score album is worth tracking down as it has some excellent extra tracks too.

  2. I have almost all of Wendy’s albums and its a shame that you can’t buy them anymore. People revere T-Dream & Tomita with good cause, but the scene is missing a major piece with her works being so rare. “By Request” is a fantastic buffet of what she could do, from classical and “What’s New, Pussycat?” to the enjoyably abstract “Geodesic Dance.” Even her weirdness was melodic. Nice C.O. cover, Scott!

  3. A fair attempt. Sadly and even though attention has been paid to the programming, the tempo is too slow and therefore the piece plods along too slowly for my liking.

It really does show though was that Wendy Carlos was a genius, and still is.
