Dutch musician Dennis Weijers shared his take on one of the classics of American Minimalism, Terry Riley’s A Rainbow In Curved Air.
Weijers has ‘a background of classical music and noisy electronics’, and is combining these two worlds with his latest project, by arranging minimalist compositions for accordion and modular synthesizer.
A Rainbow In Curved Air is from Riley’s album of the same name, originally released in 1969. It was the follow up to his best known work, In C.

What a great left turn from the usual. I especially appreciate it when someone uses a modular as more of a partner than a box of burbling. This is like the sober far end of accordion work from “Weird Al” Yankovic playing “Classical Gas” solo, too. Further proof that the gold is there if the player is properly into it. A+.
