Audio Housing Intros Compact One Music Production Desk

Studio furniture startup Audio Housing has introduced the Compact One music production desk.

The Compact One is a compact studio desk, inspired by mid-century modern design.

Dual pull-out trays with integrated cable management are designed to make it easy to adapt the desk to your own workflow. Both sliding trays can host most 61-key keyboard controllers.

Designers Marc Nguyen Tan and Sanna Wennermark want to create compact and flexible studio furniture tailored to modern music making. Each piece is made individually by a small team in Barcelona and finished by hand in their workshop.

  1. Nice to see a 60s design but for this style it’s not that beautiful.
Materials used are also available from any hardware store and construction could be made with limited skill.

For this pricing i like to see the legs fit in a more elegant way or integrated in the sides.
Looks like cable management doesn’t fit a MIDI connector and there was not thought of where all the wall outlets, adapters and access cables should be hidden. Good first version but design leaves a lot of room for improvements.

    1. Hi LEEder, thanks for your comment! The construction and choice of material has been made with many aspects in mind – especially to lower the price of production and shipping so that we can offer an affordable design. It’s our first product release and we obviously appreciate all the feedback and input we can get. Over on our instagram account we’re gonna post images and videos on how we deal with cable management, so if you are interested you can check it out at @audiohousing

      1. Ding ding ding.

“…construction could be made with limited skill” suggests to me that LEEder is either a professional furniture maker with a shop full of tools and decades of exerperience or has never ever tried to build something this intricate.

    2. It’s obvious that you haven’t got a clou about what you are talking. Excuse me but I’m a furnituremaker and can tell you the price is alright. Of course you can build it a little cheaper if you’ve got the tools and the time but no company is selling a product just for the cost of the material. Who said it was a 60s design? I’d really like to see your sketch in all it’s elegance and glory and then see you build it for that price.

  2. I used to get on the “Its too expensive!” train with stuff like this, but like if your paying the people who make it a living wage and its being made in a western country by free people instead of by slaves in Asia? Its worth it.

  3. beautiful! unlike a lot of studio desks this is also a piece of furniture. a workspace can and imo should look and feel nice at all times. well done! as for the one guy here..you probably can also build synths and plugins for better money 😀

  4. They sell garbage desk at Ikea for close to this price. This is functional and most likely not that chipped wood. I already went and check the measurements for the sliding tray. 5in’s isn’t enough for my Quantum but for sure I would get it just for that. Hard to find an inexpensive studio desk that can hold a 24lb keyboard with the height just over 5 in. I’ve checked Output as well. First runner up would be one of those $1200 desk from studio “overhead cost”.

  5. This is a rather lovely and functional design. My only real complaint is the visibility of the assembly screws. I know this due to the nature of a flat pack item, but it would be nice if they were countersunk with a little wooden cover.
I have an Output Platform in Kodiak, and that’s my only real complaint with it. This appears to be of similar quality to the Platform, which to me, is worth every penny I paid for it. I might just need to get one of these for my work from home desk! I can have a little hideaway synth rig for lunch breaks and zoom meetings!!!

  6. This is Lovely. amazing design and fair price. very stylish

for others who say they can do better/cheaper, good for you.

I don’t have the skills to do it, and aside from Platform Desk by Output other designs out there are UGLY, CHUNKY, Gamer Culture style, HipHop Studio type tacky mixer desks.

I may need 3 of these. in a \__/ configurarion.

    thank you

  7. I received my Compact One this week. The service was great from ordering to delivery. A small, family-based company @audiohousing – this is a beautiful studio desk made from high quality materials!
