Sinevibes Luminance 2 Turns Anything Into A Pad Sound

Sinevibes has released Luminance 2, a major update to their shimmer reverb effect for macOS.

The update introduces extended ranges for the parameters, allowing a greater range of effects; improved stereo imaging; VST3 support; and more.

Here’s what they have to say about it:

“Luminance is a plugin for creating “shimmer reverb” effects – unreal acoustic space simulations which gradually pitch-shift the reverberation tail upwards or downwards.

It is a novel take on this highly coveted effect, based on a modern feedback delay network design with a built-in granular pitch shifter, and featuring many original tricks such as alternating-phase time scale modulation.

Thanks to the unique, meticulously executed tuning of its individual components, Luminance possesses a fresh and highly musical character: it smoothly follows the original melodic content and creates a gorgeously beautiful background sound layer reminiscent of a dreamy symphony of strings or pipe organs – with organic depth and expansive stereo field.”

Pricing and Availability:

Luminance v2 is available now for $39; upgrade pricing is also available.

  1. Been doing a lot with reverb tags the last few months. Chopping of the initial hits and just focusing on the reverb part. Modulating, pitch shifting and using various vibrato effects. Bringing multiple reverbs with different pitches into Acid and then chopping or gating them to create weird rhythmic patterns. For $39 will definitely check this out as another reverb sound source.

  2. I’m not a big fan of shimmers generally, but there are ways to make them nice sounding.

This reverb seems kind rough (as in, not smooth).

I think I’d get a better result using two separate plugins (pitch & reverb) and feeding some output back to the input. But for people who don’t want to go to that much trouble, this looks pretty turnkey.

  3. Big fan of Sinevibes’ plugins for the Prologue. The fact that you can load the Prologue up with custom oscillators and effects just makes it a beast.

    This looks pretty flexible.

  4. Intriguing demo. I think it hits the intended goal well. We collect effects like synths more & more. This one is Hearts of Space ambient in a box. I just bought several Valhalla tools I’m exploring, but some of the most noted effects can be built from two processors in series. I appreciate all the knobs on this one. You could feed it a chorused instrument and add a galactic blossom to the tail. Sounds vaguely nasty, but you know you want to try it.
