Jean-Michel Jarre – Herbalizer (Live)

Sunday Synth Jam: This video captures a live performance by Jean-Michel Jarre of Herbalizer.

The performance comes from Jarre’s European Broadcasting Union 2021 New Years Eve concert, which had a reach of about 75 million across VR platforms, TV and radio and social media.

Jarre performed live from Studio Gabriel near the cathedral in Paris, while his avatar played inside a virtual recreation of the Notre-Dame de Paris, which burned in 2019.

Herbalizer was originally created for live performance and made its album debut on his 50-year retrospective, Planet Jarre.

  1. For a 70 year old legend, that’s done more for Electronic music
to be embraced by Public at Large Wordwide
More than any other Electronic musician, Electronic band.

Jarre’s earned the right to do whatever he likes musically.

“Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day.”
    Dylan Thomas

  2. Jarre gets both cheers and jeers, but he’s one of the godfathers who came along at just the right time in history. I’ve attended one of his concerts and its a great carnival of a thing, part-EDM, part-himself and part French/Euro-classical. Going virtual and 3-D seems natural for him. I genuflect before “Zoolook,” but the rest ain’t half bad, either.
