Tangerine Dream Live Rig Tour With Thorsten Quaeschning

Tangerine Dream is currently in the midst of their From Virgin To Quantum Years 2022 tour, and Sonic State’s Gaz Williams caught up with them to get a live performance rig tour from bandleader Thorsten Quaeschning.

The current TD live lineup features Thorsten Quaeschning, Hoshiko Yamane & Paul Frick.

In the video, Quaeschning shares an in-depth look at his live setup, including his sequencing tools, his modular system, rack mounted synthesizers, keyboards, effects, iPad instruments and more.

  1. Current lineup sounds fantastic! Based on recent live album and the videos they’ve shared, this seems like the best live version of the band in my lifetime.

I wish they’d come to the US!

      1. Interesting perspective. Certainly the majority of their work from about 1985 to 2015 wasn’t up to their 70’s peak.

I kept checking in periodically and they were either repeating themselves, reworking classics or throwing in a smooth jazz sax solo.

Their current work seems like a continuation of what they were doing in the 70s and early 80s, which is just what I want to hear.
